The Attire Of Female Athletes

I am glad to see female athletes rebelling against sexist standards in athletic attire.

There is nothing particularly political in my use of the word "sexist". Men being allowed to play volleyball in shorts, while women being required to wear bikini bottoms. Then when they wear shorts like the men-- being fined.

Athletes are professionals. They can decide what attire is best for them. Athletic guilds should focus on broad standards that don't afford undue distraction or performance advantages.

Oddly enough Cameroon men's football where twice punished for their equipment being "too revealing".

In 2002 when during the African Cup they had sleeveless tops (like basketball shirts) and in 2004 when they wore a onesie.

Basically when mens equipment (no pun intended) is too revealing they get fined the same way when womens equipment isn't revealing enough.

Bonus:
A few years ago the president of FIFA said this;
Sepp Blatter, the president of the world governing body Fifa, said women should have skimpier kit to increase the popularity of the game. "Let the women play in more feminine clothes like they do in volleyball," he said.

"They could, for example, have tighter shorts. Female players are pretty, if you excuse me for saying so, and they already have some different rules to men - such as playing with a lighter ball. That decision was taken to create a more female aesthetic, so why not do it in fashion?"
