How can Israel be Apartheid if there are Arab Muslims who are Israeli citizens?

Arabs make up 20% of the population, so I'm a bit clueless on how Israel could be genocidal towards Arabs if these same Arabs are Israeli citizens with full rights.

Seems oxymoronic.

But do they have the same rights ? Can they live where they want, work where they want, go to school, marry whom they want ? Or is it a situation of supposedly “separate but equal” ?

@bijouxbroussard Is there any evidence that suggests Arab Israelis have less opportunity to find jobs or marry who they want than Jewish Israelis?

I think this whole "racism apartheid" accusation is flawed. I mean, there might be majority Arabs in Palestine and majority Jew in Israel but that doesn't necessarily imply that it's racial. It seems to be more Nation vs Nation than anything else.
@MickRogers Except Israel is making those laws, not Palestine.

Obviously. Is this your first time looking into the issue?

@SW-User By "evidence" I mean actual evidence. Not just a claim from some random anti-semite online.
SW-User
@MickRogers Obviously.

@MickRogers I 2006 just 5% of civil servants were Arabs, many of them hired to deal with other Arabs, despite the fact that Arab citizens of Israel comprise 20% of the population
@MickRogers Do you understand that some Jewish people have criticized Israel’s policies, especially in the U.S. ? Are they “anti-Semites” because they don’t hold the “Israel, right or wrong” party line ? 😳

@SW-User In the 2002 budget, Israel's health ministry allocated Arab communities less than 1% of its budget for healthcare facility development

@Fukfacewillie This person doesn't actually care about evidence. He's a bigot who uses whatever he can to try and justify his hate.

@SW-User Israeli law discriminates between Jewish and Arab residents of Jerusalem regarding rights to recover property owned before the dislocations created by the 1948 Arab–Israeli War.

The 1950 Absentees Property Law said that any property within post-war Israel which was owned by an Arab who had left the country between 29 November 1947 and 19 May 1948, or by a Palestinian who had merely been abroad or in area of Palestine held by hostile forces up to 1 September 1948, lost all rights to that property

@SW-User Indeed -- goals posts will be moved, rationalizations will be had.

@bijouxbroussard A 2007 opinion survey found that more than half of Israeli Jews believed intermarriage was equivalent to national treason.

A group of Jewish men in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Pisgat Ze'ev started patrolling the neighborhood to stop Jewish women from dating Arab men.

The municipality of Petah Tikva has also announced an initiative to providing a telephone hotline for friends and family to report Jewish girls who date Arab men as well as psychologists to provide counselling.
@Fukfacewillie And that is the equivalent of what happened in the U.S. during the days of Jim Crow. So the parallels exist, like it or not.
@bijouxbroussard Arab Israelis have the same rights as Israeli Jews (other than not serving in the military), and have representation in the Knesset. And for the first time they are part of the ruling coalition as Ra’am (Arab List) is one of the parties in the coalition that just ousted Netanyahu.
@Fukfacewillie It’s important to distinguish between Arab Israeli citizens and West Bank Palestinians who are under military occupation.

@Fukfacewillie @bijouxbroussard What do you think the chances are that this doofus is going to continue asking "Is there any evidence that suggests Arab Israelis have less opportunity to find jobs or marry who they want than Jewish Israelis?"
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
@SW-User I'd say.....high to certain. If anyone wants to know the truth it's there. If they don't, they won't.
SW-User
@Fukfacewillie It feels like people like this are impervious to facts. Like you show them contradictory evidence of their beliefs and they act like they never saw it. It's so fucking weird. Like, don't people want to believe things that are true?
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
@SW-User Yeah, there are many studies about how people don't actually change their minds when confronted with facts. The vaccine is another example. There's studies about non-confrontation/Socratic methods. Here, it's just bashing over the head.
