The Trump Coronavirus Death Toll Passes 600,000 Dead Americans

The death toll for the virus Trump denied, said was going away, and wasn't a problem at all is approaching the total dead in the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918-1919, and the total Civil War dead. And though cases and deaths are decreasing in many (mostly blue) states, in states with higher numbers of Trump Cultists and other deniers and anti-vaxxers, cases are increasing, even as more people are getting vaccinated. They may push the death toll still higher as their denial of reality continues.

I think you need to check your facts. 6 of the top 7 states in deaths/1M population are all blue states. In fact 11 of the top 15 states in Deaths/1M Pop are blue states. And before you accuse me of being a Trumpist, I am not. Never liked him.
@Funtoy4u I think what you're ignoring when you look at red states versus blue states is that not everything is uniform. Oregon is a "blue state", but there are plenty of Trump supporters here, and we have our share of COVID deniers. I'm sure that's the case in a lot of so-called blue states.

@Funtoy4u I have checked the facts. I am talking about current cases and deaths. Those are predominantly happening in red states where people are not vaccinated to the extent that people in blue states are. Cases nationwide are coming down in numbers, but they are going up in states with lower vaccination rates that are in the South and West.

@Funtoy4u Blue states are also more densely populated, often by quite a wide margin, which greatly enhances the ability of a respiratory disease to spread.

@LordShadowfire And Oregon is 47th on the list. The worst are NY,NJ,MA,RI all dark blue states. The only red state in the top 5 is MS. After that is AZ and CT. The only one of those blue states that is close to being a purple state in AZ.

@Funtoy4u Cases are currently increasing in Missouri, Louisiana, Utah, Arkansas, Nevada, Alabama, Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. The case load is decreasing in all other states, and in the nation as a whole.

@windinhishair There are two non political factors in the number of deaths in US states. No Vaccination rates you might consider political. And I guess in America you may be right. But the big one is population densities. Large populations clumped in Large cities will always do way worse in a Pandemic and Republican states tend to be more rural and spread out.

Which makes the current increases in states like Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, etc. even more concerning.

@windinhishair It does.. However, a pragmatist with little human empathy might take a second look and ask is this is a bad thing? Many of these same people would have regarded HIV as the lords vengeance on Homo$exuals.

@whowasthatmaskedman I can't condone people succumbing to Darwinian removal for their politics. I find it profoundly sad that some are dying with last words such as "This can't be happening! It is a hoax!"

@windinhishair I agree. As if the loss of life and human dignity isnt enough. (Although America does seem to be doing "Human Dignity Lite" recently) The financial disasters repeated hundreds of thousands of times over in the US health system and the loss of earnings, jobs and even breadwinners in that fragile economy has yet to be realised. This is a world changing event. And if Americans think this is going to be business as usual afterward, they are in for some cruel lessons.
