If Moscow Mitch and the Trump Gang Block Passage of the Insurrection Commission, F*ck 'Em. When They Recess, Biden Should Call for a Special Session.

Let the American public see these sedition-loving, insurrectionist-loving Republicans for what they are: a danger to American democracy.

President Harry Truman called for a special session of Congress in 1948.
On the 26th day of July, which out in Missouri we call "Turnip Day," I am going to call Congress back and ask them to pass laws to halt rising prices, to meet the housing crisis-- which they are saying they are for in their platform.

At the same time I shall ask them to act upon other vitally needed measures such as aid to education, which they say they are for; a national health program; civil rights legislation, which they say they are for; an increase in the minimum wage, which I doubt very much they are for; extension of social security coverage and increased benefits, which they say they are for; funds for projects needed in our program to provide public power and cheap electricity. By indirection, this 80th Congress has tried to sabotage the power policies the United States has pursued for 14 years. That power lobby is as bad as the real estate lobby, which is sitting on the housing bill.

I shall ask for adequate and decent laws for displaced persons in place of this anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic law which this 80th Congress passed.

Now, my friends, if there is any reality behind that Republican platform, we ought to get some action from a short session of the 80th Congress. They can do this job in 15 days, if they want to do it. They will still have time to go out and run for office.

They are going to try to dodge their responsibility. They are going to drag all the red herrings they can across this campaign, but I am here to say that Senator Barkley and I are not going to let them get away with it.
Of course, the Republican-controlled Congress later adjourned having done nothing.

And President Truman then had his nickname for the 80th "Do Nothing" Congress.

That November American voters re-elected Truman and gave back control of both wings of Congress to the Democrats.

Poor baby you don't get your rigged witchhunt.

Figured you'd consider uber fuckup Harry Truman your hero.

There was no insurrreksionist insurrrrrektion. Doors were open ed for the crowd and not one weapon was brought in.

Bring in your Antifa idols if you want violence. It'll give us Real Americans one more reason to put them down.

Permanently
@Slade You can roll your eyes all the way into hell, You are still threatening violence with the number of guns and ammunition by Real American Patriots (?) to defeat Democracy. Not the end

Where was Trump's FBI?
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
The GOP is clearly a terrorist organization, I hope every day the FBI, CIA and Homeland Security will declare them our biggest domestic threat snd take action.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: can the U.S. please just get a divorce? That way we could avoid a war, and everybody would be happier.
Slade · 56-60, M
@SmartKat Long past time for a national divorce
@SmartKat I don't think the right wing would be very happy ceding 70% of our nation's productivity to the left, and making due with only 30%. Fact is, red areas just don't contribute that much to our economy.
What news station is this on?

Don't worry, there are many ways to launch a Congressional investigation - after all, how else could republicans have held eight separate congressional investigations of the four deaths in Benghazi? Several different Committees (in each House) can launch an investigation based on a majority vote, with subpoena powers based on a majority vote.

Committee investigations are the method by which republicans launched eight separate republican controlled Congressional investigations of Hillary and Benghazi, how they subpoenaed her, how they compelled her sworn testimony. After the republicans finish their display of the most blatant hypocrisy, Committee investigations of Jan 6, complete with subpoenas, will begin.

P.S.: did I mention the 8 separate republican controlled Congressional investigations of Hillary and Benghazi? Please don't forget them when you're talking about blatant republican hypocrisy and rigged witchhunts. Karma's a bitch, ain't that right, @Slade?
