Is it possible to have a civil discussion on things like politics or religion?

If the majority of the posters have similar views and opinions, then everything is cool. But if the views and opinions clash, then...BOOM!

A civil discussion is possible, as long as the discussion is rooted in facts and people are open to considering various sources. You're not going to find that often on SW.
