Since some jurors where put in fear for their lives and the safety of their city, I'd say that's a big YES.

@TriggerWarning 🤡🤡🤡
@TriggerWarning anyone dumb enough to serve on that jury deserves to be threatened.
@independentone You might not say that if you were the one on trial.
@TriggerWarning I don't murder people, and I don't commit crimes, so I'll never be on trial. I also never serve on a jury, I have better things to do with my time.
@independentone Never say "never", sanctimonious one. Life has a way of creeping up on you and one day you may find yourself in need of a jury no matter if you deserve it or not. I certainly hope you don't, but stranger things have happened. And if you do find yourself on trial, you'd better hope that those on the jury don't resent you for wasting their precious time or are intimidated by a mob to find against you....
@TriggerWarning Don't commit crimes, and you won't need a jury trial.
@independentone Well, that's just common sense. But the climate of the country today may find you on trial for any number of reasons other than crime. And if you think your gender, race or age protects you, think again.
@TriggerWarning The countries climate is pretty toxic at the moment, sadly, I'm afraid you may be right about being accused or charged for something you didn't see coming.
@independentone This exchange has been enlightening very much appreciated. Thank you, kind sir.
@TriggerWarning If that's true, then the smartest thing a person on trial could do is hire a publicist to spread the story that people will riot if he's convicted. That will induce the jury to vote not guilty, because as everyone knows, all juries care about is whether people will riot or not.
@independentone Innocent people are charged with crimes all the time.

How do you get out of jury duty - lying? You take an oath to tell the truth during the voir dire process, so you're admitting to violating that? Typical conservative, proud of breaking laws you disagree with while ready to throw the book at everyone else.
@LeopoldBloom I'm not conservative, and I don't have to lie to get out of jury duty, simply dress in all black, spike your hair and scowl at everyone, you don't even have to say a word, you will be dismissed within a few minutes.
@LeopoldBloom Of course that's not all juries think about. But they seem to be thinking about it more and more of late....
