No reasonable person would believe Trump lawyer's lies about a stolen election. Says who ....?

..... Sidney Powell herself (or at least her lawyers on her behalf) no less.

Superlawyer and member of Donald Trump's 'elite strike force' of election fraud lawyers , has responded to the $1.3 billion lawsuit that Dominion filed against her.

"Would reasonable people conclude that the statement (hers and Trump's preposterous claims of fraud) is one of fact, in light of its phrasing, context and the circumstances surround the publication. [...] Analyzed under these factors, and even assuming, arguendo, that each of the statements alleged in the Complaint could be proved true or false, no reasonable person would conclude that the statements were truly statements of fact."

So , if you believed any of that in the first place , then that makes you ... errr ..... stupid ?

It is pretty much an indictment of Trump's supporters and a very revealing glimpse of the essence of Trumpism.

@MistyCee Yeah, but all they really want to do is get that satisfaction from feeling like they are "owning the libs."
@MarkPaul Some of them I think buy into it purely out of maleovolence, but I don't buy that hurting others is Trumpism's Sole
appeal.

@MistyCee I agree malevolence is not the key. I think it ties strongly to the American "Winning is everything" culture, where anyone who doesnt win is a loser. Couple that with the fact that so many average Americans were told they were "winners" just by being American and then had their livelyhoods chipped away in the rust belt and the south. Money is the measure and how you obtain it is secondary. So the frustration of those who dont "make it", coupled with access to firearms and a sense of entitlement they feel for the trappings of success is expressed in rage. Be it storming a Capitol building or shooting up a supermarket. And all they could offer before Trump came along to explain it was "I dont like Mondays" 😷

@MistyCee would you agree that anger/frustration is the primary source? Not sole but crucial at the least.
@monte3 I think so. It's tricky though, because frustration over the status quo works for reform as well, and Trumpists somehow seem to identify with conservatism as well.

I think @whowasthatmaskedman had a good point and that tribalism, even if not maleovolent plays into it.

At the end of the day, though, I think Trumpists are mostly just easy marks for all kinds of cons.

That has ALWAYS been the hallmark of Trumpism..And it has always worked for him.. 😷

This piece from Oct 2018 still remains (for me at least) the best critique of 'Trumpism.' ;

@RodionRomanovitch While I agree that some individuals will always be the cruel bullies who will hurt animals for the joy of it, I cant bring myself to tar every Trump supporter that way. I prefer to see them as shortchanged on the American dream and striking out in frustration.
But the assessment of Trump as a rich mans idiot son with no ethics or conscience is spot on.😷
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@whowasthatmaskedman It's degrees of cruelty on a spectrum. Some of them just want to sock it to the libs , others actually want to kill people.
