People Don't Seem To Understand that Hillary Won the Popular vote

60,467,000+ people voted for Hillary and 60,071,000+ people voted for Trump. If the elections were based on actual individual ballots cast, then Hillary would be president. So, please stop saying most people voted for Trump, because it is inaccurate. He won the electoral vote, meaning he gained the most number of points through the states in that system, which is what decides the president.

The same thing happened with Bush/Gore. It's interesting how many people don't seem to understand their own country's voting system...

The electoral system was an excellent and practical system when the country was founded because of the vastness of the United States and the impossibility of counting individual votes at the national level with the primitive methods available at that time. But in the modern era each individual vote can be counted.

People always bring up complaints with the electoral system after an election, but then quickly forget about it until the next election. The electoral system can be changed, but only by a amending the Constitution.

Excellent response...plus it would be very difficult to pass on an amendment about this because the smaller states would be greatly opposed to it...

It was also set up to prevent mob mentality. Meaning...if the majority of voters were to decide the president straight out then all campaigning would be done in the most populated cities rather than any focus on the rest of the country...this of course can also be regulated/changed by enforcing some provisions but. .do we really want to do that for the few instances where this happens and we are pissed about it?
