As a non-American I can only say that this is great news. We need to protect the environment and stop climate change and having one of the most industrialised and influential nations back on board is a great step in the right direction. It also marks a new age where America is no longer a rogue state led by a psychotic fascist hell bent on destroying.... everything... and now a force for progress. You never know, the world may yet be saved, from covid, climate change and general insanity.

@SpiritualMan First - fucking lol. Second, new technologies are welcome, but R&D is not a predictable or sure thing - meanwhile green and nuclear energy is here. Solar is now the cheapest electricity in history.
Besides, things like the paris accords are there partly to provide incentives for the private sector to step in with this sort of new amazing tech.

@SpiritualMan Considering how on the nose our scientific predictions were back in the early 90s, I'm inclined to take the consensus viewpoint of the entire scientific establishment over your religious argument.

@SpiritualMan trump has set nothing positive in motion. The number of trump supporters I've heard from that claim Trump has some masterstroke up his sleeve that he is about to unveil is phenomenal, yet I see no sign of it. God has revealed no green energy to us. Science has provided this, and will, through the scientific method, find yet further methods of providing energy that does not harm the environment.

@Nomoretomorrow you wouldn't know a fascist if he slapped you in the face. Trump was not a fascist. Biden is. China is your big problem and Biden is their lap dog.
Nomoretomorrow · 46-50, M
@SpiritualMan Hitler boosted Germanys economy, look what happened there. Trump completely messed up the US covid response. Your religion tells you God put green energy on the Earth, it is not proven fact. That said there's not a lot in the bible about solar power...
Nomoretomorrow · 46-50, M
@Baremine Biden most definitely is not a fascist. Trump on the other hand displays many of the tendencies of fascist government.

@SpiritualMan revaluation tells us that it is really going to get hot before Jesus returns. We don't have anything to do with global warming. Almighty God controls that. Maybe he is turning up the heat because of the human race rebelling against him.
Nomoretomorrow · 46-50, M
@Baremine or its because we are releasing too much carbon into the atmosphere.
Baremine · 70-79, C
@Nomoretomorrow the earth it's self releases more carbon than we do. Are you going to plug the volcanos?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Baremine We outdo volcanos handily actually. And you clearly don’t realize that it doesn’t take much to interfere with the carbon cycle.
Nomoretomorrow · 46-50, M
@QuixoticSoul don't be daft of course not. That amount of carbon, on its own, is not a problem otherwise we'd have had global warming before now. Its the man made carbon on top of it that's causing the problems. And yes, we do have to cut that right back to save the planet.

@Nomoretomorrow we were force to do away with R 12 refrigerant because it was causing a hole in the ozone layer. The hole was there before AC and freon is heavier than air. How did it cause a hole in the ozone? Facts don't lie science does.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Nomoretomorrow No, we really do emit considerably more greenhouse gases than volcanos. It’s not even close.
@Baremine Mixing between troposphere and stratosphere carries them up, and other heavier than air particles too.
Basic scientific ignorance really hurts your whole “omg the world’s scientific community is lying” schtick.

@Baremine which is wrong as above and also a different topic to carbon levels. Facts may not lie but you have to get them straight first.

@Nomoretomorrow I'm going to agree with you here :)

@Nomoretomorrow will China be joining the Paris accord
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@ididntknow China never left.
