Crazy that the State Capitol in Washington D.C. never had a metal detector until now
Also crazy that GOP lawmakers who supported metal detectors for schoolkids don’t want to be searched.

Not surprised. As I understand it several GOP lawmakers had their own guns on them at the time of the riot. Meaning either they carry them all the time, or they were aware they needed them on that particular day. Either way, how was anyone allowed to have a weapon in capitol building who wasn’t a duly sworn law enforcement official?
