A week from now this will all be over.

Looking at the history of America and overlaying it with the History of Trump, I dont see a real issue. The things that made America what it is, great or not, are not now and have never been anything to do with what made Trump what he is, no matter what you might think that is. There will always be the greedy and always be the ignorant. There will always be the fanatics. But the sheer weight of the American people will not be turned by such people..
Now America does have real problems and I am not saying it will triumph. I do think its best days are past.. But 20 years from now Trump will be a footnote and a bad memory, compared to the real issues.馃樂

I'm thinking it deserves at least a chapter, if not a couple like the Civil War.

70 million plus Americans fell for a con man who fomented armed rebellion, and even after he did it, millions still support him.

This is, IMO, the kind of thing that should be studied and not forgotten lest it be repeated.

We need that, because just a brief footnote falsely saying that Trumpists wanted to "Make America Great" instead of talking about their selfishness, greed, dishonesty and hatred and contempt for other humans, would be a far worse "white wash" than the lost cause narrative.

We're not out of the woods yet, and we're not even done with testing the victims of the first wave of Trump's maskless thugs, and hopefully the number of dead Americans won't continue to grow, but I think we've seen enough that it should never be forgotten, nor should the leaders of Trumpism be forgiven.

They knew exactly what they were doing and many of them, before they drank that kool aid, are in tape predicting it.

@MistyCee I agree with a lot of this, though it's sad.
@PhilDeep It is immensely sad, as well as terrifying, especially in the midst of a global pandemic to have neighbors supporting a movement like this.

We're going to be dealing with this for a long time, and its yet to be seen what the country will be like when it's over.

@MistyCee Trump and Trumpism is gone Politically but the Republicans will follow his line and method of campaign.
If you think cornering and vilifying a 70+ million voter base will help Democrats in future elections then good luck! That's not gonna sit well with the independent voters.

@MistyCee I agree that it won't be over, not for a generation at least. Yes, I'd feel pretty uncomfortable knowing half-the-nation almost voted for him despite everything. I hope there's no war / genocide. When they talk they literally sound thirsty for blood, frankly.
@PhilDeep Honestly, the worst part is, when I hear "them" talking about blood and soil, killing libs and whining about their rights to lie being infringed, its hard not to feel a bit bloodthirsty myself.

That's what really gets me, I guess. Its so easy to become them and thus fulfill the oppression fantasies that fuels the problem.

@MistyCee If it's come to that, sounds like you're on a knife-edge with violence on either side. That wouldn't be good for America or the world, though it wouldn't surprise me if it started even this month :(
@PhilDeep Thankfully, I'm just a keyboard warrior and the only blood I'm likely to spill is virtual blood on SW. And even that usually makes me squeamish.

@MistyCee I agree. This is a dark chapter in politics for America. Bringing out the Bogeyman of Hitler and Nazi germany , I do think we have to say America does seem to have answered the call boardly and the reasonable majority are not standing silent. I do believe Ameeicans will pass the test Germany failed.馃樂
@whowasthatmaskedman I'm thinking we may have just answered a first question and the test isn't over yet, tbh.
