If trump didnt mean to endorse white supremacists....

Has he clarified his statement? I don't have Twitter, but it seems he could reject them loudly to his millions of followers.

But, that's his primary voter base isn't it? He'd surely lose the election if he did that.

@CleverFunnyNameGoesHere What white supremacists are you talking about?
@hippyjoe1955 It was mostly sarcasm. But...

...If you watched the debate he did mention two groups by name and he told them to standby because "somebody" needed to "do something" about Antifa. And at the end of the debate, he specifically told his "people" to go to the polls and watch them for fraud.

Personally, I don't actually associate with White Supremacists that I know of and haven't bothered to memorize the names of their groups.

@CleverFunnyNameGoesHere The only names I heard were names mentioned by either Biden or Wallace as they tried to defend antifa and BLM. Only when pressed about the Proud Boys which is not a racist outfit did Trump tell them to back down or words to that effect. The demoncraps are projecting again.

@CleverFunnyNameGoesHere in his position today, he cant afford to alienate a single voter. That stands true for Biden too. But I dont think Biden would stoop to this low of level.

@hippyjoe1955 No, the Proud Boys are supposedly "White Nationalists" call it whatever you want, but racism is racism and the President is supposed to be the President of ALL Americans, not just the white ones, his display and words were shameful.
@hippyjoe1955 Nope. He did not tell them to back down. He told them to "stand back and stand by". Standing by, means to be prepared and be ready and he immediately followed that with "somebody needs to do something about Antifa".
CNN's Elle Reeve spoke with Enrique Tarrio, the group's leader, who said while he was happy about the President's comments, he doesn't see it as an endorsement.
Tarrio said he interpreted "stand back and stand by" as meaning they should just keep doing what they're doing.
If Trump wanted them to stop what they are doing and to actually back down he would have said "I do not approve of white supremacists or citizens attacking citizens or any kind of race hate." That is how you disavow white supremacists.

But the group you mention has been historically racist and violent. Whatever they officially say, their actions over the decades have shown otherwise.

I'm not a violent person. And I'm not a racist person. And It is frightening that the president of our country could clearly get the violence to stop but refuses to say the words. Instead, he encourages it.
@spjennifer Thank you for your succinct explanation.

@CleverFunnyNameGoesHere last time I checked, white supremacists did not like how much support Trump gives Israel.
@pianoplayingsteve It was a flippant comment after his statements at the debate.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@CleverFunnyNameGoesHere A flippant answer to a stupid question. "Have you stopped beating your wife yet" stupid.
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@CleverFunnyNameGoesHere So, explain why these white supremacists love Trump.
@hippyjoe1955 I'm a heterosexual woman who has a husband and not a wife.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@CleverFunnyNameGoesHere How that have any bearing on our conversation?
@pianoplayingsteve From what I've read about Trump he has a history of racism and has built his campaign on racist comments and practices. No, I'm not going to bother providing you with sources because you are a big boy who can do the research yourself.
@hippyjoe1955 well because YOU said
A flippant answer to a stupid question. "Have you stopped beating your wife yet" stupid.
And just because I think Trump is a murdering, racist, traitor to the United States doesn't make me stupid. No need to be insulting or makeup stuff about me. I don't have a wife. And I've never beat anyone.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@CleverFunnyNameGoesHere It is a form of question that is designed to smear. Much like the demoncraps demanding Trump disavow racists. That you think that Trump is a murdering racist traitor without any evidence whatsoever does make you an idiot.
@hippyjoe1955 I actually have seen the evidence. But every time I go through the trouble of showing the evidence to people who support Trump they call it "fake news" and "lies" so why bother conversing with individuals who resort to namecalling every time their world view is proven to be wrong. Goodbye.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@CleverFunnyNameGoesHere Then the floor is open. Please present your evidence.

@CleverFunnyNameGoesHere Still waiting for your evidence. The floor is yours.
