Covering your mouth and nose means less transmission rate, especially for droplets attached particles.There have been enough research to prove that and at this point it's a given in the scientific community. It's not just about you not getting sick.

Most effective masks are not available to the public. You need a mask that has polypropylene layer. But IF there is nothing of the sort either, home made mask are better than nothing because there have been documented decrease using those too.

There is enough information , enough studies that show how wearing masks can help in managing the pandemic, not the most important part but it's still important, along with social distancing, washing hands with soap properly, self-isolating if you have symptoms or had possible contact with confirmed cases, and other prevention and control measures.

I honestly don't think this should be up to debate at this point. It has been more than half a year. You all should know better.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Been wearing a mask that deprived your brain of Oxygen? Ever heard of HEPA Filters, N95 Masks? The major reason for wearing a mask is so you don't spew out infected sputum droplets and infect others, secondly to protect you but if everyone is wearing masks you're less likely to get infected, "use your common sense"!

What you are saying here is factually correct, but only under very defined circumstances.

The only condition in which your statement is factually in-correct is if the mask you are using is an N-95 mask, which has 3 integral air filters of which are specifically designed to trap 99% of all virus either being inhaled or exhaled through the mask. N-95 masks can be purchased at a pharmacy for about 3 to 5 dollars each.

It has been proven that using a face covering like a cloth bandana similar to what Willie Nelson wears around his forehead has absolutely zero effect in stopping virus, bacteria or even water droplets themselves.

The second-best type of mask to use is a quilted blue-colored mask which is white on the inside, fits close to your face and is aggravating as hell to wear for more than about 10 minutes. They cost about $1.00 each. They are much cheaper to purchase yet are equally as effective in controlling the spread of virus, bacteria or water droplets as an N-95 mask.

A plastic face shield is only good for stopping the spread of your own virus to someone else... but it is no good at all for stopping someone else's virus from being ingested by you when you inhale their second-hand air while standing within 6 feet of them.
