There's a sizeable chunk of the population that is going to spew out bullshit in bad faith just because they know they will never face any consequences for it. They eschew nuance and approach everything outside their narrow worldview with caustic antagonism because it feeds their fragile egos. There's no incentive for them to learn or to challenge themselves and no recourse for their insolence. It's just self-congratulatory tribalism
