If you read what the law is actually doing, however, then you will notice that this is not true.

It does not legalise paedophilia; it simply allows the judge to exercise their discretion about whether the adult should register as a sex offender in cases of anal and oral sex, as well as heterosexual sex, with a (consenting) minor.

It does not mean that if they don't register as a sex-offender then they are not punished for their crimes.

It also does not apply to children under the age of 14, when the adult is more than 10 years older, and if it wasn't consensual.
