Why is calling someone a rascist and dismissing them so much more fun than having a intelligent conversation ?

IronHamster · 56-60, M Best Comment
Also from Dr. Sowell, racism is like ketchup. You can put it on anything.
@IronHamster He should be required reading.

I'm not interested in political correctness.

But racism is seriously ugly.

And the quote is nonsense. Who, exactly, is keeping this kind of ugliness alive?

@AbbeyRhode The playbook that's doing the most damage right now is creating a stereotype out of people's political views (liberal, right wing) assigning all the most extreme behaviours of the few to all of them, and believing it's true. Social media and some traditional media feed this (including trolls from Russia, China), even though it's patently untrue. As long as people keep doing that, dialogue and democracy are dead.
@Abstraction great point...thanks

Because so many people ARE racist and are incapable of intelligent conversation.

It is easier to call someone a racist than having a conversation
Don't have to think.

Some are incapable of that
Madhatter · 31-35, M
Because an intelligent person would recognize the truth of the statement. If you can't grasp a concept that simple, an intelligent conversation isn't possible. Intelligent conversation requires you to be speaking to an intelligent person.
Graylight · 51-55, F
Because in being a willing racist there is de facto no intelligent conversation.

Your quote, btw, has almost nothing to do with your question.
"The imposition of PC has no logical end because feeling better about one’s self by confessing other people’s sins, humiliating and hurting them, is an addictive pleasure the appetite for which grows with each satisfaction. The more fault I find in thee, the holier (or, at least, the trendier) I am than thou. The worse you are, the better I am and the more power I should have over you." Is this quote better?
Graylight · 51-55, F
@ianR0ckwell An unattributed quote about what may or may not apply to this situation, devoid of original discourse?

No, not better.
