It's an ugly progression to be sure, but even if Trump loses and never becomes a permanent dictator, this Convention will be historic.

@MistyCee It is reminiscent of the 1992 Republican Convention, with Pat Buchanan giving his naziesque cultural war speech. It was horrifying, but it helped set the stage for what we see today.
@windinhishair I think I'd repressed that memory, but you're right, the fascism thing has matured.

@MistyCee It was followed up by Newt Gingrich's Contract On America in 1994, and the fascist elements have continued to proliferate ever since, with a big assist from right wing hate radio and Fox "News".
