Because they share the same causes and concerns. I remember reading and hearing democrats speak in support of NAMBLA back in the late 70s and early 80s. About being inclusive of all types of sexuality. I don't believe for a minute that the majority of the democrat base feels this way but up until now, it has been something they held their nose and stuck to the party for. In recent years, it seems that the party has been hijacked by the far left. It is too much for some of the moderate democrats. In my family, my great Grandfather was a democrat, my Grandfather was a democrat, my Father was a democrat. Myself and my brothers and sisters all started out as democrats, my nephews and nieces were democrats. Five generations of "yellow dog democrats". I was talking to my nephew, he is 48 and has been a staunch democrat, he will be voting for Trump in November. His reason? All the garbage about LGBTQ, the persecution of the Christians, he questioned how any Christian could vote for democrats.

@QuixoticSoul It is all about perception, if the people in Po'dunk Tennessee want the 10 commandments at the courthouse and a nativity scene during the holidays, the people there see it as persecution because of their religion. Couple this with the fact that schools are teaching about Islam in some places, you can't have a prayer before the football game. It is starting to look like the powers that be are trying to eliminate a form of religion in preference of a different form. About 65% of US citizens polled claim to be Christian. With 62% claiming to belong to a church as a member.
With well over half of the country having a faith in Christianity, that pretty much makes it a Christian nation, that is where the law comes from and that is the basic moral compass heading of the country. Just like Iran is a Muslim nation, most of their citizens believe in Islam, so they are mainly an Islamic country.
When I see laws and legal proceeding brought against people who talk about Islam, when I see laws banning religious practices of other faiths, then maybe I will see it as an attack on religion as a whole and not just Christianity. Till then, it just looks like a constant effort to beat down the religion of most of the population of the US. And it matters to voters, coming from a family of "yellow dog democrats", I spoke with a family member who voted for Hillary in 2016, he will be voting for a republican, Trump, for the first time ever in his life at 48 years old, mainly because of his religious convictions. It is all about perception.
I have searched for a conservative or republican endorsement by NAMBLA and can't find a single one. I don't doubt for a minute that there aren't gay candidates or candidates who would support NAMBLA on the conservative and republican rolls, but they are absolutely not the majority of the group.
