Trump supporters: Why do you think Trump insists on referring to COVID as "China" or "Wuhan" virus? What is the benefit which outweighs the harm?

Most of the world is calling it COVID. Why is it important to Trump to call it China virus?
When you're referring to it in mixed company do you call it COVID or China virus?

What's the problem in identifying the source of the worldwide pandemic?
And, who gives a rats ass what 'most of the world' calls it?

Let's not forget that the Chinese Communist Party is an enemy of the United States.
The only ones ahead of the MSM and democrat party.
Thank you. I’ve already pointed out this is just a bullshit post to try and stir up controversy where none exists. @Budwick

@Budwick Wow.. an angry, angry man :)

We've had this conversation before but i'm happy to explain it again.
The problem with naming a disease after a population, region or even animal is that there are serious repercussions for that population: Economic, racial, health and safety.
People of asian descent (including Japanese and Koreans) being targeted by racists for being carries of the disease whether they have it or not.

People know where the disease first showed up, it's not a secret. But insisting on attributing the disease to a specific population is shown to have serious consequences to the welfare of human beings.
Do you care about the welfare of human beings?
SW-User
@Pikachu He doesn't care for the welfare of anyone who has already been born. You should know that by now.

I'm OK with that.

China had ample opportunity to notify the world and contain the virus.
They did not - to the peril of the rest of the world.
China has in effect declared war on the rest of the world.
The rest of the world should hold China in great disdain.
@Budwick

What about chinese immigrants living in america? What about americans of chinese descent? What about anyone who looks sort of Asian? Should the world treat them with great disdain?
Because that's part of what happens when you name a disease like this. When you INSIST on attaching a disease to a particular people.
I think that's what you don't get or maybe just haven't stopped to consider.

This kind of thing hurts PEOPLE. Not big bad CHY-na, people.
So i ask you again, do you care about the welfare of human beings?
revenant · F
@Pikachu can you explain why china refuses other countries to investigate ?

People are against CCP not the chinese people

and can you tell position of Japan in all that ?
@revenant

No i can't explain anything to you about political decisions made by the Chinese government.
Can you explain what that question has to do with the question i asked on the OP?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Pikachu
What about chinese immigrants living in america?
What about 'em?

Please read my comment again - you know how sloppy you are - and always ready to blame every fucking body else than yourself for errors.

I wrote - "The rest of the world should hold China in great disdain.'

You understand the difference between a country and people, right?
SW-User
@Budwick Maybe you should change "China" to "the CCP", because they are the ones who we should be holding "in great disdain". That way there will be no misunderstandings.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SW-User I'll consider it - but even you figured it out all on your own.
I mean, do you really need that much hand holding to tell the difference between China and Chinese people? Let alone Koreans and Asians.
@Budwick
What about 'em?

They're being hurt by this choice on the part of the president and his supporters.
You understand the difference between a country and people, right?

Yes, that's the point i'm making. lol we're actually on the same page there.

Let me try to clarify this for you:

1) Naming a disease after a specific population is harmful to members of that population.
2) You said "I'm OK with that" and proceeded to explain that China deserves to be held in disdain.
3) I make the point that naming diseases in this way has nothing do with China and everything to do with hurting individual people. Like me, you understand the difference between a country and people.
4) Since insisting on attributing this disease to a country is hurting people, we have now identified the problem with naming a disease in this way.

Do you understand?

So, you DON'T understand the difference between a country and people.

@Budwick

Deflection noted and dismissed.
Maybe i need to dumb it down for ya.

This naming convention hurts people, not china.
Why are you ok with hurting people?

Answer me.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Pikachu The 'naming convention' is ideal in identifying where the virus originated and who is responsible.

If the Chinese people don't like being associated with China -
They could work on changing their government so as to not embarrass them.
Move.
Or find someone other than you to be their PR guy.
ideal in identifying where the virus originated and who is responsible.
...and that genuinely is the most important thing to you? Making sure to know who to point a finger at?
You value you that over the well-being of actual humans?

And while this is more of an earnest answer than your facile suggestions deserve, i made it clear to you already that people who HAVE moved away from China are still suffering from this.
Chinese people who have immigrated to the Us. American born citizens of asian descent. Good, hardworking businesses being hurt because Chy-na virus must come from them.

So i'll ask you the question again, do you care about human well-being?
If you do then you can explain why your empathy isn't as strong as your spite.

Do your best.

@Pikachu
I make the point that naming diseases in this way has nothing do with China
It has everything to do with China.
That's why it's the China virus.
That's where the virus came from.
China is the place that knew about the virus long before it became a pandemic,
and they chose to keep it on the down low,
at the peril of the rest of the world.

Having ones ego bruised because thick headed leftists like yourself can't tell the difference between a country and a person vs unleashing a killer pandemic onto the world is a stupid comparison made by stupid people with a severe case of TDS.
@Budwick
Having ones ego bruised
....?
Bud...at this point I genuinely don't know whether you're failing to understand that putting the blame on China by insisting on referring to the disease as China virus still hurts individual people or whether you refuse to acknowledge that fact because your ego does not permit you to admit error.

Given your refusal to address the question of whether you care about human well-being and why finger pointing is more important than that, i suspect the latter.

Either way, i think we can agree that this discussion has past its expiration date.
