Trump supporters: Why do you think Trump insists on referring to COVID as "China" or "Wuhan" virus? What is the benefit which outweighs the harm?

Most of the world is calling it COVID. Why is it important to Trump to call it China virus?
When you're referring to it in mixed company do you call it COVID or China virus?

And does it matter? That’s where it came from so, I don’t see what it’s called makes a lick of difference except for those who create posts like this in feeble attempts to create an argument over nothing. Sad really. But I guess some people have nothing better to do. 🤷🏼
@DukeOfEarle

1) I'd like to see you answer those questions instead of deflecting. If you felt you had enough time to post about why you don't think it matters then you have time to answer the questions.

2) It does actually make a difference. It's been shown to make a difference.
Naming a disease after a place, a people or even an animal can have dramatic, real-world effects on that population. People of asian descent (including Japanese and Koreans) being targeted by racists for being carries of the disease whether they have it or not.
That's why the WHO made guidelines for naming new disease because there ARE serious and detrimental results if you name it like this.
The president knows this (or at least has been informed) and yet he insists on perpetuating this damaging epithet.
One wonders why.
No it doesn’t make a difference. It only reminds people (because they have a short attention span) of where the virus came from. That’s all. End of story. Nice try.@Pikachu
@DukeOfEarle

Sorry, could you please answer the questions in my original post?
Go ahead.
No it doesn’t make a difference.
...you're wrong.
Objectively.
That's all.
End of story.
That's why there is now a protocol for naming disease. Specifically to avoid social, economic and safety related repercussions.
If you're interested in learning more about the issue then feel free to follow the links below.
If you're afraid to expose yourself to the idea that you may be mistaken then feel free to ignore them.

Up to you.

No thank you. I am not interested in your spin. I think I made that very clear earlier. @Pikachu
@DukeOfEarle

Um... "my" spin is shared by scientists, healthcare workers and policy makers from around the globe. Hence the WHO (the WOLRD Health Organization) protocols.

But you've made your choice.
You'd rather be right than informed.
End of story.
Yes yes....cherry picking “science” to make some shit picking point about what he calls the virus. I guess if he called it Covid-19 it would magically go away? You see the only reason you disagree with me is because I called you out directly on your bullshit. And just in case if you haven’t figured it out, I am not here to answer your questions. @Pikachu

@DukeOfEarle it is a sad day when facts and reality is just spin.
Any one that will listen to a fools opinion and follows it, is a bigger fool, and far more dangerous.
And again, cherry picking things from the internet to prove yourself “right” is not science. It’s just cherry picking. Nice try but FAIL. Have a nice day. @Carla
@DukeOfEarle
I guess if he called it Covid-19 it would magically go away?
Nope. Your straw-man fallacy is noted and rejected and i seriously hope you didn't really believe that, that is what i was saying.
To clarify the issue for you: Naming a disease has no effect on the disease itself, only on how the associated population is treated.
Scientists, healthcare workers and policy makers from around the world recognized that fact and agreed upon ways to help mitigate that kind of backlash.
Maybe you don't see it as a problem but evidently your uneducated opinion is in the minority.
You see the only reason you disagree with me is because I called you out directly on your bullshit
Take a breath, step back and realize that a disagreement does not have to be a fight.
I disagree with you because you've taken a stance that it does not matter what a disease is called, that it makes no difference.
This is objectively not the case and i've linked you to some information on that subject.
You have refused to expose yourself to information which might prove you wrong.
You're not here to answer the question.
You're not here to have a discussion.
You're hear to have a fight and i'm not interested.

See yourself out.
Some people do not buy into your Communist bullshit. No means no. Type any garbage you want. No means no. End of story. @Pikachu
Carla · 61-69, F
@DukeOfEarle well...that would stand true if I only cherry picked from the net.
But, you see, I base most of my thoughts on what people actually say and do. Not a pass/fail situation. Just the facts sir
@DukeOfEarle

...The WHO protocols for naming disease are "Communist bullshit"
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Pikachu
"my" spin is shared by scientists,
With lab coats and everything?
@Budwick

Big ones, probably. Makes their science extra right!
lol is that what you wanted me to say?
Without a doubt, worldwide efforts to combat COVID-19 would have greatly benefited from independent, unbiased and informative data from the world’s leader in health, the World Health Organization. Unfortunately, information coming from this organization since the beginning of the year has left a lot to be desired. Often providing information that we now know to be inaccurate or incomplete.
And you’re concerned about what Trump calls it? You’re citing W.H.O.?
We now know that in late December 2019, Taiwanese officials had sounded the alarm about human-to-human transmission of the virus directly to the World Health Organization.
Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control sent an email to the organization, which was forwarded to my office and has been widely reported, warning of “at least seven atypical pneumonia cases .in Wuhan, China.”
Additionally, the communication noted that these individuals had been isolated for treatment, which is said to be standard operating procedure for preventing human-to-human transmission.
Taken together, this information should have been a red flag for World Health Organization’s leadership that the virus was capable of human-to-human transmission.
Unfortunately, the World Health Organization chose to ignore these warnings and failed to pass on this critical information to other countries.
And again, all you car about is what Trump calls it? Your narrative is now thoroughly destroyed. Good day sir.
@Pikachu
@Budwick Yeah, the same scientists that failed to warn the world in time. But he’s worried about when Trump calls it Kung Flu. I wonder how much they pay this schmuck per hour?
@DukeOfEarle

...so you're criticizing the way the WHO handled this pandemic in its early stages...therefore we can ignore what they say about the harm caused by careless (or malicious) naming of diseases...

Um...can you identify what narrative you felt was deployed or destroyed?
all you car about is what Trump calls it?
No. I asked a few questions in this thread but you made it clear that you were not going to answer them.
Don't frame your shortcomings as me being myopic lol
@DukeOfEarle Spin is propaganda. It's the way facts are distorted, downplayed or dismissed by the use of emotive language directed at a target audience.

Facts, science and logic are not and cannot be spin.
It is possible to cherry pick facts and ideas to mislead in an argument.
But Pikachu has not done this; he has stuck closely to all the relevant information, has analysed the language with respect to linguistic logic and proven social and psychological effects.

So the question then arises, what is it that makes you feel it is so important to call the virus by the name of it origin, rather than by the name given to it by those who discovered it?
So no one forgets where it came from and who gave us this plague. @hartfire
