My question on the state of this country after John Lewis passes away

When I got up this morning, I looked at CNN, and they were doing a story on Lewis and his history. I switched to MSNBC and it was the same with them, a history of John Lewis. I then went to FOX and Neil Cavuto was talking about a congressional seat opening up and could they get a republican in that seat.
At first I was disgusted with Fox, but then I started wondering, if say, Mitch McConnell were to suddenly die, I'm sure Fox would spend a lot of time talking about McConnell, but would CNN and MSNBC pay tribute to him?
Is the country so divided now, that if someone in the opposition party dies, you either ignore it or God forbid, rejoice in someone's death?

The Democrats have class and yes, they would be commenting on McConnell. Republicans are anticipating the death of Ruth Ginsberg.....so they can fill her seat with another swamp critter of Trump's choosing.

@JeanAnna Trump cultists are openly praying for her death here on SW.
@windinhishair Good thing their God (Trump) doesn't hear their prayers.
@windinhishair And conservatives are usually the Christians here...right ? 😒

@bijouxbroussard So they say.

@bijouxbroussard I am Christian and I can't believe there are Christians that support Trump. Cheated on all his wives, had affairs with porn star, and probably many more we haven't heard about, lies and cheats, is ignoring the pandemic while many Americans are dying. He doesn't care about anyone but himself.
I think he would sell his kids if the price was right.

He is an evil, mean, sinful person and used the Bible as a prop. Probably has never even opened the Bible, heck he held it up wrong. That's how stupid the man is.
@JeanAnna You seem like a good Christian. I have noticed that the good Christians never bring it up. The bad Christians like Trump supporters always have to blow their own horns and try to convince people of how Christian they are. I have seen enough of those kind pull all kinds of shady garbage that anyone name dropping like that is now a red flag to me.
But yes. There are definitely good Christians. The loud ones just give the rest of them a bad name.

@canusernamebemyusername I agree. I don't brag about my religion nor do I try to push my beliefs on anyone else, but I am just baffled why some still support Trump because of how he treats others, all the name calling. I have family members who are good Christians but they still support Trump. Needless to say we never discuss Trump at our family gatherings. I'm afraid I couldn't keep my mouth shut. lol
@JeanAnna Same. I have brothers like that and from what little I have heard from them they aren't even acting Christian themselves. They are just latching onto Trump because they both hate the same things. So I keep my mouth shut too. Lol

@canusernamebemyusername It's getting harder and harder to keep my mouth shut. lol I have inlaws coming to visit Friday night and I just hope Trump doesn't enter the conversation, because I'm to the point where I probably will start pointing out how evil the man is. It won't do any good because they think everyone else is lying but him. lol One guy hates Tiger Woods, only because he's black..... how stupid is that.
@JeanAnna Maybe this can give you some things to point out to them:

https://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/commentary/2016/11/06/10-reasons-you-cant-be-a-christian-and-vote-for-donald-trump/

Also I grew up on the "you will know a tree by its fruit."
JeanAnna · F
@canusernamebemyusername Thanks, I'll check that out. I like that quote. I grew up with "if you can't say something nice, then keep your mouth shut." lol
JeanAnna · F
@canusernamebemyusername I would love to send that link to some of my Christian friends who have supported Trump. Or maybe not. lol lol Hopefully they have learned their lesson and are thinking more clearly and will NOT vote for that liar in November.
@JeanAnna Another one you might like is by a guy who was a former cult member and says Trump and his followers have the signs of one:

https://www.salon.com/2020/04/07/cult-expert-steven-hassan-trumps-mind-control-cult-now-faces-an-existential-crisis/

I grew up with a lot of Christians that were influenced by the 4th great awakening where they were terrified of things like cults. And even though I never believed that the devil was around every corner I have come to realize lately that there are a lot of other types of cults, not just religious ones. Like trumpets and Q conspirators.
JeanAnna · F
@canusernamebemyusername If I send either link to my inlaws and you don't hear from me ever again.....take a guess at what happened. lol

Christians don't like cults, but a lot of them believe everything their pastor tells them. Not me, I've seen too many preachers who turned out to be con men. Swaggart, Jimmy Baker come to mind.
@JeanAnna Along with Jerry Falwell, Franklin Graham, Oral Roberts, Joel Osteen and many others. But I guess the God business has been good for them financially.
@JeanAnna Yeah I'm learning cult is a mentality/set of behaviors rather than something religious.
And stay safe:( Something I've been using lately from islamic/middle eastern culture is saying peace be with you. Cause the world Def needs more peace. I like religions even though I'm not myself. But there are many good things like that saying that are good.
