My question on the state of this country after John Lewis passes away

When I got up this morning, I looked at CNN, and they were doing a story on Lewis and his history. I switched to MSNBC and it was the same with them, a history of John Lewis. I then went to FOX and Neil Cavuto was talking about a congressional seat opening up and could they get a republican in that seat.
At first I was disgusted with Fox, but then I started wondering, if say, Mitch McConnell were to suddenly die, I'm sure Fox would spend a lot of time talking about McConnell, but would CNN and MSNBC pay tribute to him?
Is the country so divided now, that if someone in the opposition party dies, you either ignore it or God forbid, rejoice in someone's death?

OK, I get what you're saying, but there are no examples of a conservative politician, and the liberal media making his replacement the primary issue. Nothing that I can think of.

In the here and now, this is what we're dealing with.
@Northwest I really hope this was just a Fox thing, and I hope CNN wouldn't have the same lack of response for a republican, but I'm just not sure any longer. The country is so divided, I'm not sure anything can pull it back together again.
9/11 did, and you would have thought Covid would also, but it only seems to widen the divide.
Is there any hope for the country, or are we truly going the way of the Roman Empire?

@independentone CNN and MSNBC both reported on the death of Republican John McCain and ran extended segments about his life. When George H. W. Bush died, he received extensive coverage on his life, presidency, and post-presidency.

If you think the Fox joy at the death of John Lewis is awful, wait until Justice Ginsberg passes.
@windinhishair I really hope you're wrong, regarding Ginsberg, but I'm afraid you may be right.

@independentone There are several people here on SW who have been openly praying for her death for a long time. I've blocked most of them.
@windinhishair Yeah, I know, they also pray California will fall off in the ocean. Most of them are just jealous they can't earn a decent living and have to live in one of the trailer park states.
