Which current law does the USA have that is racist in intent?

curiosi · 61-69, F
It's not a law but "affirmative action", companies are required to hire minorities over qualified whites.
@curiosi noted!
Federal law?

Seriously, imo, probably not many, unless you're willing to include indirect stuff like laws that have disparate impact and the like.

I'm sure there are still plenty of state laws that are still overtly racist on the books, though, even if their enforcement is restrained by "judicial activist" and increasing federal dominance over the states.

All of that could change, but imo, there are much more significant issues at stake, like whether the real federal "law" is decided by Congress or the whim of the President, how much of a say the courts will have, and how we elect our leaders, which is not racially explicitly dependant, but is not distinct from race dependant politics.

My guess is, to the extent that the majority of American voters still matters, and that they are still educated secularly or even by mainstream religious doctrine, we're not going to explicitly endorse much racism per se by "federal law" but we've got a leader with very devout followers who is telling them to believe only in what he tells them, and I think, until he is rejected, all bets are off.

There are some that give preference to companies owned by non-whites when government hires contractors.
New Jersey has COHA

It is a law that says, if a town does not have its quota of African-Americans ... then a builder can build homes at any density it desires, irregardless of neighbor objections ... irregardless of appearance ... as long as 20% of the 3 BR units are sold to African-Americans at a price of approximately $167K
RICHMOND — One law in Virginia declares that “no child shall be required to attend integrated schools.” Others dictate that white and black Virginians live in separate neighborhoods, and that the races be kept apart on trains, playgrounds and steamboats.

Those are among nearly 100 antiquated and mostly defunct laws that the former capital of the Confederacy needs to wipe off its books to move beyond its fraught racial history, a state commission announced Thursday in a report. The laws are still on the books and there for in effect

@SW-User I'll give it a shot, tonight if I'm able

@Tiredandlonely ah, that's a jaded response
@SW-User not really, it's a simple truth, there are none

Most judicial laws are. The system was set to keep colored people in prison after slavery was abolished.
@SW-User which ones? Example please
