How can republicans claim to be the party of Abraham Lincoln and defend their “confederate heritage” at the same time?

We are defending our right to see and teach our children the actual history of our country . Not the altered version Democrats want to tell. Democrats , pandering for the black vote , don’t want the black population to know democrats were responsible for slavery and for segregation as well as the Jim Crow laws . Rather they believe the black Population is stupid and won’t notice while they tear down “ evidence “ that will remind Americans of the Democrat role in promoting racism , throughout American history .
