Why are these top countries happier than the USA?

Finland
Norway
Denmark
Sweden
Iceland
Switzerland
Netherlands
New Zealand
Canada
Austria
-The immigrants and citizens of these countries were rated on GDP, social support, health, life expectancy, freedom to do what you want and life choices, generosity, perception of corruption, crime, etc! Here is my hometown

They're no happier than me!
And, I'm an American, living in the heartland of the country.

I'm glad those people are happy.
You can adjust your stats Carazza - put me down as a Happy American!
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Budwick She's not interested Budwick. Told her the same thing, this was the reply...
you cant be happy in a country that has high crime, poverty, and biggots!
So apparently we can't be happy. 🤷‍♂️
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SumKindaMunster Well, we don't have to invite her to the Happy America Party this weekend!
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Budwick Yeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhhh America, FUCK YEAH!!!!

@SumKindaMunster Uhmmm, ok, that looks fun.
I was thinking more like volleyball and a barbecue,
but, a worldwide demonstration of American Exceptionalism is also fun!
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Budwick This is America! Go big or go home!
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SumKindaMunster OK Munster - I'm in!
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Budwick Your state of bliss is already represented in the surveys - not enough Americans share your disposition to bump the country in the ratings.

But the whole setup is a little goofy anyway, happiness is a fuzzy concept that's essentially unrelated to anything but one's inner state. One can be happy in any country, no matter how dysfunctional - there are people in Somalia every bit as happy as you are.

This is why the human development index is probably a better guide to what the OP was talking about, really. The "happiest" countries are ahead of the US on that too, we are #15.
Carazaa · F
@Budwick I am happy you’re happy! I just want everyone to be happy in this country!
JollyRoger · 70-79, M
@QuixoticSoul I agree: If you like being where you are = then you rate on the 'happiness' scale. The one thing to notice is that the survey pnly rated the opinion of immigrants.... Sure: They came to the new country and they'd better be happy!!
Carazaa · F
@SumKindaMunster
You can be happy but there is something wrong with a person that is happy when others are hurting!
Budwick · 70-79, M
@QuixoticSoul
there are people in Somalia every bit as happy as you are.
Agreed.
the human development index is probably a better guide
Oh, my human development index is the best!
No one has seen such an index as mine.
It's perfect really.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Carazaa
I just want everyone to be happy in this country!
I hope that is true.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Carazaa That's a ridiculous statement. I can't be happy while someone else is hurting? Why am I held responsible for other's emotional well being?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Carazaa
but there is something wrong with a person that is happy when others are hurting!
Someone, somewhere is always hurting.
You are disallowing happiness.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@JollyRoger Those surveys are not targeted only at immigrants.

Immigrants and happiness tends to be a complicated story anyway. Many are here to make money for their families, and ensure a more stable future for their children - and they're trading personal happiness for that.
Carazaa · F
@Budwick But are YOU concerned about people?
Carazaa · F
@Budwick
In the top countries on that list the government really care about all their citizens! And the politicians aren’t making hardly anything! They take an average salary of no more than a Plummer or a clerk in a store!
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Carazaa I'm concerned that you have seen fit to sit in judgement of my country, my people , my president, Mr. Munster and me!
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Budwick yes, cause criticism is bad... fuck, what's going to happen next? Selfimprovement? That's just Anti-American.
Carazaa · F
@Budwick
Yes the USA is getting a very bad reputation because of not caring about people!
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Budwick Oh I don't care Budwick. But thanks, appreciate the support. ✊
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Carazaa In THE Top Country - The United States of America, the president doesn't make a fucking dime. He has refused payment.
Carazaa · F
@JollyRoger no these countries really work on making everyone happy!
Carazaa · F
@Budwick No he’s taking in $400, 000
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Carazaa
he USA is getting a very bad reputation because of not caring about people!
Must be from all the humanitarian aid we provide to everyone
