Sum it up for me.

@Human1000 There are basically three types of elitism in this country: government, economic, and cultural. Most Americans don't have bachelor's degrees and even fewer have post-grad degrees.
Generally speaking, globalization and the current immigration systems tend to benefit the highly educated class and the corporate class, while leaving working-class Americans (among other people) behind.
Those telling us that we must stay locked down, i.e. that working-class Americans must remain unemployed and financially insecure, are able to work remotely and have maintained their standard of living. Furthermore, 60% of the highly educated are able to work remotely, while fewer than 10% of less-educated Americans can do their jobs remotely.

Those who aren't in the elite believe that when the elite tell them they must accept trade and immigration policies that seem to leave them behind, the elite are really just promoting what is best for themselves. Thus, in general, when the elite say we must do something that seems to be leaving the non-elite behind, the non-elite are quite skeptical that the elite really have their best interest in mind or even understand what is in their best interest.

@33person Thank you for the summary. I’m an elite it seems. Who knew. Trump is aligning with corporate elites too, but the Trump followers seem okay with them. I get the anger about not working, but flaunting not social distancing is not a good idea, even for them.

@Human1000 It's just that they take to the extreme the idea that these people really do believe that these experts' interests are AGAINST the "ordinary" people, and they genuinely believe it because of these things.

@Human1000 Also, Trump followers see a bigger problem with the "cultural" and highly educated elite than the corporate elite, I'd say.
