It’s very telling that the word liberal is now supposed to be an insulting term. The west’s civilisation was built on liberalism.
And muting people instead of exchanging mature debate seems really shallow. I guess that’s earned me a mute, but oh well. @questionWeaver

@LukeTheDuke agreed! Liberal is no insult to me whatsoever! It just means I’m not a narrow minded bigot. Also, means I don’t base my entire identity of who I may or may not vote for.But for some people that’s all they’ve got.

I wish many people would pick up a dictionary and some history/philosophy books and look up what the term liberal actually means. They seem to be oblivious to the fact that so many of their freedoms, liberties and rights derive from liberalism. @Wordlover

Yes, I’m sarcastic, and it took me many, many years to realise that it really put people’s backs up rather than be taken as a gentle ribbing (which is how I intend it to come across). Now I realise just how badly people take it, I make a conscious effort to avoid it. @Wordlover
