USA pays like $5k a year for gitmo. And the Cubans never cash the checks. We do it to stay within the letter of agreement with Cuba's previous government. Which was something of a puppet government of ours so the whole thing is kind of a dick move. Cubans want us to gtfo.

It's a treaty with Cuba, who we freed from Spain, that goes back nearly 120 years.

There's no fixed end date of the lease.
