Did the UK Government

decide not to take part in an EU initiative to source more ventilators on ideological grounds, as looks increasingly likely?

I am not sure that it was purely ideological grounds, no. I do believe that it was deliberate, I don't believe that it was a missed email. I think that the reasons were more about putting the UK first and about confidence in our own ability to source ventilators.

@SW-User fair enough, I kind of hope it was "confidence" (however misplaced!) rather than an anti-EU sentiment.
