Did the UK Government

decide not to take part in an EU initiative to source more ventilators on ideological grounds, as looks increasingly likely?

We're making them ourselves, it one of the many advantages of being the best engineers in the world.
PSuss1 · 56-60, M
@Johnblackthorn it appears that's our Plan A ...I genuinely hope they arrive in time
Johnblackthorn · 56-60, M
@PSuss1 they've made the first few, now it's just a matter of tailoring the design to mass production.
milkymum1 · 36-40, F
@Johnblackthorn it will be weeks as we as the UK have never made these vefor so all the desgins and venterlaters have to go through all the testing and all the process of copyrights, liabiliy, etc etc.

Also if we are that good, why ahven't we made them before?

Why did the tories stop Gtech from making them?

Why did they not accpet help from the EU for venerlators?

We are don't have the best engineers in the world as plenty of other countries can make that claim !!
milkymum1 · 36-40, F
Yes little Englanders mentality, stiff upper lip and a cup of Tea will see us through!!!!

I mean they give Dyson a 10,000 order and tell Gtech to stop helping with the venterlators, why?

Also we as the UK have never made our OWN venterlators so any will do make have to be tested and aporved before being made on mass.

I am not sure that it was purely ideological grounds, no. I do believe that it was deliberate, I don't believe that it was a missed email. I think that the reasons were more about putting the UK first and about confidence in our own ability to source ventilators.
PSuss1 · 56-60, M
@SW-User fair enough, I kind of hope it was "confidence" (however misplaced!) rather than an anti-EU sentiment.
SW-User
@PSuss1 It could be a bit of both, that's more than possible.
PhilDeep · 51-55, M
No idea. They had a big official denial on their website yesterday regarding a Financial Times article about ventilators.
PSuss1 · 56-60, M
@PhilDeep yes, saw that, interesting ...no response to the claim in the question though?
PhilDeep · 51-55, M
@PSuss1 Not sure about the European issue if that's what you mean?
PSuss1 · 56-60, M
@PhilDeep yes, indeed. We appear to have "bet the house" on being able to manufacture them ourselves, I hope we don't live to regret that decision (no pun intended!)

They are where they are
PSuss1 · 56-60, M
@questionWeaver difficult to challenge that logic 🤔
