At least we know what drives him
“If they don’t treat you right, I don’t call.”
Trump, discussing his strategy for lending assistance to State governors.
That's the president's unifying call for our nation to come together in this deadly time. Narcissism and paying tribute to the emperor.

This is the second time. First time, was March 3rd or so, when Trump came for a visit, and Trump said that he told Pence not to be nice to our Governor. I keep thinking that, at some point, his cult would question his actions, but it doesn't look like it.

@Northwest President BumbleTrump is failing at his main duty--keeping Americans safe. His reaction to his failures is always to blame others. This time his incompetence is killing people. Thank goodness we have governors like Inslee, Cuomo, Newsome, and others who are competent and are trying to do the right thing for their states, despite BumbleTrump's flailing around. Just wait until it gets bad in states like Mississippi that are still largely ignoring and downplaying the threat.

@windinhishair They will find an excuse for him. They will blame Obama. They will blame Hillary. Or something. Look at the cultist on this thread, he's calling this fake news.

@Northwest I'm blocked by the cultist, but I see others blaming Obama for H1N1 and for leaving Trump unprepared, even though it was Trump that axed the Pandemic Response Office, but the CDC and HHS budgets, and paid no attention to pandemic planning.
@Northwest Trump's cult won't question his actions until this virus hits his bases States in the South and Midwest and they start dying.

@independentone And that WILL happen. It is just a matter of time.
@windinhishair I know, what they don't understand is the people in NY, SF and Los Angeles tend to travel internationally more than the people in the South and Midwest. NY and LAX are also international hubs, so of course that is where this virus first popped up. From there, it will spread, slowly at first, throughout the rest of the country.

@independentone The death toll could actually be higher in rural Trump states than in major cities, because quality health care is less available and further away. But that is a story that will be played out for the remainder of 2020 and well into 2021.
@windinhishair I agree completely with that statement. Hospitals like Cedars and Johns Hopkins, Stanford and UCLA attract the best doctors. The doctors in the flyover states and the South tend to be the doctors who got C's and D's in school

@independentone Red state residents are about to pay for Trump's malfeasance.
@windinhishair I believe they will have a higher mortality rate from this virus than coastal states regardless of who is POTUS simply because most of those red states don't have access to decent medical care. This is just my opinion, and I really hope I'm wrong though.

@independentone I hope our actions can slow this down so vaccines and other treatments can be developed and save people's lives. That is the only thing that will stop it now.
@windinhishair It is up to the State governors to act, Trump seems to be a few steps behind and has been very slow to come up with anything constructive. Thank God for people like Cuomo, Inslee and Newsom. Cuomo made a couple mistakes and was slow to call for a shut down, thankfully Newsom learned from him and shut down Ca even before NY was shut down.

@independentone Although the poor federal response has resulted in states competing with each other for resources and driving prices up, some states like those you mentioned are showing true leadership.
@windinhishair I heard this morning that some of the governors are skipping going to the Federal government and are calling Newsom to get supplies. I live in Ca, so I do hope Newsom will only give them something if we have an excess and won't need it ourselves.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@independentone I think to get through this, the states are going to have to share resources between themselves, depending on where they are on their own case curves. The federal government isn't doing the job, so the states are going to have to do it themselves.
@windinhishair Sadly, I agree, we can't count on the Federal government to help, they have been very slow to react and Trump continues to lie about this pandemic.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@independentone But now that he has taken over the coronavirus task force for air time, since he can't have his Adoration Events, he's more concerned with ratings numbers than actually being president.
