I hate politics and don't want a debate but I have a question

My family is very, very Republican, and I remember right after Obama got elected they couldn't believe how dumb Obama was being by doing the stimulus packages to save all those businesses..
But now trump's sending everyone checks.
They love trump and everything that guy does is right to them, so they're all "oh yes. Trumps doing the right thing by sending ebetyone checks."
Isn't this basically the same damn thing as what Obama did? Except it's going to people instead of businesses.
Also, a aren't republicans the ones who like big businesses?
I'm confused.

I think your confusion comes down to a simple matter of stereotypes.

But also there's a difference in the types of emergencies being handled at different times.
@AuRevoir stereotypes certsinly are some of my confusion. Because I don't really care too much for politics, I'm not too familiar with which believes what.
But.. I know my family is all for big business, but they were upset when Obama sent money to businesses.
That never made sense to me, but I always thought it was just because in their minds everything he did was wrong, and they weren't actually disagreeing with the action itself. 🤷‍♀️
You make a good point that they're different emergencies, though.

@boklenholley7 Could also be Specific big businesses getting the money. 🤷‍♀️

One example is that Democrats often promise to cut into people with more than enough wealth and raise their taxes.

Yet when Hillary Clinton ran under these promises it's very odd the amount support her political party was receiving from Google, Amazon, Movie stars and other celebrities.

🤷‍♀️ If they truly believed in these ideals, these companies and wealthy people wouldn't need a tax law to give their money away in a positive format to help people.

Politics are a pain for everyone, and everyone is being promised something from their side.

And people put their faith into believing their side is right. And the other side is to blame. 🤷‍♀️ Ideally both sides would work for the betterment of everyone.

But people are all very torn about their ideals.

Basically your way if mostly ignoring politics is one of enlightenment in some ways. Why jump into a bar fight when you can sip your beer and watch from the sides? 🤷‍♀️
@AuRevoir true. Haha I like debates and civilized convos like these comments. Never seems to be anything but shouting in politics.
But... I'm kinda a shit stirer with the family I've been talking about. Don't care for politics, but throw in one jab at just the right moment and watch the room explode. 😂 so funny. People getting riled up over random crap.

@boklenholley7 Yeah I mostly would rather just listen to others these days. 👀 I feel like there's more for me to learn from listening than hearing myself speak too often anyway.

🤷‍♀️ Plus my opinion on combining different political ideologies to create a super policy of government seems to be unpopular anyhow.
@AuRevoir I fully agree. Though I can't learn much from my family, I feel I've learned a lot just from asking this question. 😅
Lol sounds like an interesting though, though.
