Bernie says Sandanista leader is "impressive" in 1985. He also said that Castro had "transformed" Cuba.

Re: Sandanistas, whom Bernie so admired: "They instituted a policy of mass literacy, devoted significant resources to health care, and promoted gender equality but came under international criticism for human rights abuses, mass execution and oppression of indigenous peoples

Re: Castro: "During Castro’s rule, thousands of Cubans were incarcerated in abysmal prisons, thousands more were harassed and intimidated, and entire generations were denied basic political freedoms. Cuba made improvements in health and education, though many of these gains were undermined by extended periods of economic hardship and by repressive policies."

And guess what Bernie said about Castro in 1985? "Sanders insisted that he did not mean to suggest "that Fidel Castro and Cuba are perfect; they certainly are not."

But "just because Ronald Reagan dislikes these people," he argued, "doesn't mean that people in their own nations feel the same way."

Clueless? Yup. The people who were executed, jailed, harassed, intimidated, repressed and denied basic freedoms, and even fled their countries certainly all felt that they hated these leaders.

Your thoughts? Bernie is headed directly to Commiefornia right now to drum up more support.
You know Bill DeBlasio's past with support of the Sandanistas, right? https://www.newsmax.com/Politics/deblasio-sandinistas-cuba-honeymoon/2013/09/23/id/527225/

Bernie is an old angry white guy whose dreams of Utopian paradise and all that BS were shattered in'16 by the Democrats. There may well be a redux of that real soon!

That probably won't hurt his relationship with the Mexicans and Guatemalans but that's not going to sit well with Cuban voters in Florida.

@SW-User I heard that a lot of families living in Florida really hate Bernie. Many of them had relatives who were harassed, imprisoned...some of them even had to flee...to Florida...in fear of their lives.

Bernie is a long time proponent and advocate of Soviet style communism masquerading as a grandfatherly absent minded professor.
@bowman81 They talk all that BS until the reach the power they've craved, aka as at the top of the heap...that's when their true agendas come forth and oppression begins.

@Burnley123 I think we should make you live in the United States, and listen to a Bernie Rally. The Swede who went to his last rally to fact check said that the Bernie rallies are "filled with old, old Marxists like Bernie, and very young people", (who are too young to remember what Bernie was like in 1985, and didn't study anything about history in college because their commie professors don't want them to know the truth.)
