Tory party

I'm so fed up with the Toires after 10 years in power and some of them are moaning that things havent been done.............. well who's to blame, you guys have been the government for 10 years and you havent done anything to sort out any of the problems.

So my question is if you were PM what would you do to make the UK better or change any poliy lie zero hour contracts!!!

I think it would help if he actually came out and said the last ten years has to be seen as something of an economic, Conservative party led failure.

I know Cameron and May will say they did what they could at the time, but ALL policy decisions waived on the side of caution for the few rather than belief or optimism for the many.
And like it or not, any elected government has to be able to look after BOTH !

He also has to kick employers. HARD ! NOW !
For more than ten years now they have been allowed to set rates of pay and wage increases far below what they should have been and we NOW have WORKING POOR as a result !
Which is a nonsense !

And he knows it !

The design of the Universal Credit ACTIVELY encourages NUTRITIONAL STARVATION for it's claiments !
And THAT is unacceptable by ANY standard and needs to stop NOW ! The very idea that ANYONE thought this 'good fiscal policy' needs to see that person strung-up !

The very fact you have foodbanks operating is testament to the shocking way Conservatism has killed the UK over the last ten years.
And Labour need the kicking of a LIFETIME for allowing yet ANOTHER extended period of Tory rule because, once again, they filled their party with frontbenchers who would have been better yelling obscenities at a football match rather than being entrusted to create ACTUAL POLICY PEOPLE COULD SUPPORT !

@Picklebobble2 Sadley BJ would never do that as he was part of the tory party then so it would come bakc on to him like a lot of policies did to TM.

Austerity hasnt worked all that has happened is it has got worse for us and not for them, as like with the floods a minister saying at least 10,000 homes weren't flooded, that must really sound nice for the people afected.

The problem is like a lot of the tories is they won't ever go against businesses as laws are in place to pay the minimum wage but its never enforced.

Yes the UC was evil in a pure tory way, under fund it and then force through the uptake and dont care about the people afected.

Yes for such a rich country to have food banks, cloth banks even some areas cosmetic/wash banks is an absolute disgrace !!!!

With Labour the polices some were ok but some werent thought through at all and just seemed like theyd been jotted down on the back of a beer mate, what didnt help was the onslaught from the press.

@Picklebobble2 I'm better off since Tories got in than when labour was in....the reason labour got well beaten is because of the way they stood on brexit...the fence....they did more u turns than is normal and they really wanted to stop brexit....we can only say who is best to lead us by the level of money in our pockets and employment and wage increases...these are good at the moment..
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Platinum But still way below what they should be. Even in comparable terms with the rest of Europe.

Quite WHY Labour pushed the self-destruct button DURING an election campaign is both astonishing and stupid.
Now more than ever folk need support and they're not getting it from anywhere.

Sorry state of affairs it really is.

We are never going to get enough from any government, they want to keep us down....one of the top fund companies in the world said we will out perform America and the eu ...and they should know what they are talking about....if we give it two more years and see if we are better off alone....@Picklebobble2
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Platinum You can make an awful lot of company stock worthless inside two years !
You can throw an awful lot of folk out of work in two years !
You can decrease the value of a fifty year held pension pot inside two years !
Platinum · M
And you can increase all those things , and there is more chance of this happening than your suggestion....employment is at its highest level ever ....1000s of companies have said they are moving their offices here and it all points to a country going places....@Picklebobble2
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Platinum Fantasy ! Every company LOVES the idea of a minimum wage set too low.
Every company LOVES the idea of '0'-hours contracts' country !
No evidence to suggest employment will rise or that living standards will as a result.
Platinum · M
What do you mean, no evidence....zero hour contracts were brought in by labour and employment is the highest it's been....wages have increased.....with respect, you don't have a clue what you are talking about......unless you can show me proof @Picklebobble2
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Platinum Working poor has increased. Not employment. It's only because of changes to the benefits system that sees more reliant on charity than the state that makes it look a 'success'.
by all means, name the companies that are employing.
Do you know which sector in the UK economy is currently the largest ?
I do !
GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS !
Platinum · M
@Picklebobble2 working poor had increased because they allowed too many foreigners into this country who were working for low money and keeping wages down for our own people...cheap labour which leaving the eu will stop ...when the new points system comes in, low wages will stop and we can start getting higher wages again..voting labour and voting against brexit has ruined this country, but now we are getting our country back ...employment is at its highest...you know which sector is highest..Google is a wonderful thing...
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Platinum You don't get higher wages by changing laws that stifle collective bargaining.
You don't get higher wages by allowing companies like Amazon to have those ridiculous shopfloor policies.
etc etc

@Platinum The main reason employemnt is so good is the tory was or working it out like this

1 full time employee sack him/her = 5 zero hour empolyees = cheap labour for companies!!!!

@Platinum the best evidence for lower wages comes from a bank of England white paper

Its conclusion is
This paper asks whether immigration has any impact on wages. It answers this question by
considering the variation of wages and immigration across regions, occupations, and time.
Occupations turn out to be a relatively important dimension. Once the occupational
breakdown is incorporated into a regional analysis of immigration, the immigrant-native
ratio has a significant small impact on the average occupational wage rates of that region.
Closer examination reveals that the biggest effect is in the semi/unskilled services sector,
where a 10 percentage point rise in the proportion of immigrants is associated with a 2
percent reduction in pay. Where immigrants come from — EU or non-EU — appears to
have no impact on our economy wide results; with the impact within the semi/unskilled
services sector being small. These findings accord well with intuition and anecdotal
evidence, but do not seem to have been recorded previously in the empirical literature.
The reduction is small as indicated in this conclusion. And whether eu or non eu makes no difference. It will be interesting to see if the new points system does lead to a wage rise or just labour shortages.
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@SW-User honestly it doesn't take a rocket science to see it will lead to a labour shortage, how EU migrents can be blamed for wages being pushed down is completly unbeleivable, yet again its the tory party not enfoceing the minimum wgae, just look at Sports Direct a millionaire who pays under the minimum wage and what have the government done........... nothing.

I'll give you an example how they push wages down and steal work....for years we worked in an office block in sidcup Kent , there was 14 floors and for years the same people from different trades worked there to refurbish the building. Probably eight different trades...each time we came back to work there, one trade had been replaced by polish workers...the next time one less British firm was replaced by polish workers...and so on until we were the only English company left working there and then we were told to halve our prices if we wanted to carry on working there...we walked off after ten years....and they sacked all the cleaners and replaced them by with polish women.....and that is happening all he time..@milkymum1

@Platinum I know exactly what you mean I have been on many building sites all round London scaffolding, and English getting replaced by immigrants as they are much cheaper per day work, the people who say it is not down to immigrants need to get out in the real world and visit these places, that is why the hospitality industry wants immigrants as they are cheap labour go into any restaurants, and other places, same as the farmers cheap labour
