I suppose this all really depends on whatever context you are using. I can think of tons of examples throughout history were going to war was the financially smart thing to do. Some countries are still living of centuries of plunder and loot taken from other places.

I could also give you a few examples where going to war was done in the name of preserving life. all to do with context.

@SW-User Well you could always be like the Swiss and stay neutral in the war but offer to "hold" everyone's valuables while they fight lol

@SW-User that's one way to think of it, where war is just a big business and financial investment I guess. Also yeah some people go to war in order to gain their freedom from oppressors/invaders. I'd say this is more of a revolution, though, but yeah sometimes words don't matter that much.

@SW-User indeed there are exceptions like the fight against fascism which was a righteous war against genocidaires.
