Trump Wins Iowa Caucus

There are some people that weren't even aware that Republicans had a caucus in Iowa yesterday too. It's not well reported for some reason - 馃ぃ

But Trump ran away with about 98% of the votes.

The democrats - the ones that want to run YOUR healthcare - Medicare for all - haven't completed the process. There's all kinds of excuses, lot's of meltdowns and plenty of embarrassment. Maybe they are pausing for dramatic effect - you know make an announcement right before Trump's State of the Union Address tonight. Cuz, let's be honest, Trump will have so many good things to report about the state of the union - things have never been better! [Well, except if you're a democrat - in that case the view may look kind of sucky.]

So, what do you think went wrong for the dems in Iowa?

I've been listening to the news very carefully, and apparently the app that was used was well tested in advance, and it was NOT hacked. It was backed up with a paper trail, and that was fortunate, because the app crashed.

It was overloaded, and either the server or the app itself did not have the capacity to take that much information that quickly. There were 700,000 voting sites statewide. It was probably not considered that when the polls closed, all the numbers for three sets of data would be transmitted almost simultaneously...so...number of democrat voters in Iowa times three.

There was also a supportive telephone service, and the various voting sites were supposed to be able to use it to call in their numbers if the app failed, and the phone system also crashed due to overload.

A voting center manager, in one instance, reported waiting on hold for over an hour and a half, unable to get through. Some of the voting centers decided to load their votes into trucks and take them physically to Des Moines.

So...it's all being counted by hand. AND it appears that some inconsistencies are coming to light. Basically, don't hold your breath.

It also seems that Iowa will no longer be THE state for caucuses in the future.

And, I have it on good authority that the Democrat Party won't be part of the future either!

@4meAndyou they must have overlooked the performance testing (load balancing and stress testing), or grossly underestimated the number of users. I also wouldn't be surprised if they failed to consider the age of the devices, version of operating system, coverage of all of the possible carriers, user installation issues, etc.

The sad reality is that far too much can to wrong with computerized voting, both legitimate errors and nefarious actions. I'd rather us rely on old school paper voting.
4meAndyouF
@Budwick Well, the entire party will certainly become DINO's.
4meAndyouF
@BizSuitStacy It appears that IS what happened. Paper backups are all that saved them.
Budwick70-79, M
@BizSuitStacy Biz - you sound like you know what you are talking about. The dems sure don't.
And, after the Obamacare website bombed on them 7 years ago, they could really use some help.
4meAndyouF
@BizSuitStacy I just heard more news...it appears to have been a coding error on the app. The app was only reporting partial data. When the inconsistencies were discovered, the app was discontinued...or...that is the official story. 馃槼

NOW I have heard that it was a stress or a load issue. Holy cow...nobody really knows...or it was all of the above...
BizSuitStacyM
@Budwick Been working in IT for decades. Sounds like it was a complete cluster***k.

When The Obamacare website was rolling out, there was a magnitude 5.6 earthquake in Redmond, WA. The Obama administration announced the website would cost $500 million, and everyone at Microsoft fell on the ground laughing all at the same time.

Total incompetency.
BizSuitStacyM
@4meAndyou I doubt we'll get the true and complete story. But I'd guess there were multiple issues.
4meAndyouF
@BizSuitStacy You have to wonder, don't you. Everyone was sure the Dems would try to do something to screw Bernie again...and I wonder if this was what they came up with.
BizSuitStacyM
@4meAndyou I have heard the sabotage speculation, and I won't say it's not possible. But it would be easy to manipulate the data instead of turning a mobile app rollout into a disaster.
Budwick70-79, M
@BizSuitStacy @4meAndyou The REALLY hard part id coming up with a scheme that somehow implicates Trump.

The truth is not an option!
