Was just thinking on my recent statement on Trump, how crazy it seems to have one person represent such a vast space such as America.

No doubt this would cause severe issues

thats one of the reasons a united Earth or a one Government Rule just won't work

I think it will make sense someday once the planet becomes more homogeneous in terms of culture. Although language is a barrier, but maybe most people will adopt English like many already have. Or maybe it will be Chinese?

Yet we still likely would need a federal system. The top layer might not have much influence at first. Let it evolve. But we do need some international respect for law and order. Rather than fight wars, we need to vote on things, make laws and stand by them, or else go to court and respect the ruling. Everything should be done by agreement or at least via majority rule (with minority rights). We need a calm procedure, with due process.

Of course we all are not ready for that now. We are still caught in the throes of nationalism, and religious insanity. We still need to grow up more, as a species. It may take another millennia, though. Or maybe sooner? Who knows. But not in my lifetime.

not in my life time either , and i always thought a one currency system world wide would be helpful
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
Well, we sort of already have a global currency, the dollar.

Only if the individual dictator was detached from his/her own ego could they positively govern the masses. Put simply to be effective you would govern the masses as you would govern yourself.

Rather than a supreme leader, just have a board with a chairperson, or something, to preside and be a figurehead or point person. But all have equal power. Maybe morph the UN into something with more power. It is representative but often is at the mercy of the superpowers' ambitions.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@JoyfulSilence: yeh thats closer to what I believe
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
But we have a long way to go. First we need to respect each other, and trust each other.
StefanoHopkins · 51-55, M
@JoyfulSilence: The dollar is not what it was. Nor is the American Empire. It is in decline, which is a "natural" process which happens to all empires.
Acceptance of this, and adapting to it, are essential at this point.
Those who have will have a better future. Consider Britain, which glided to earth somehow, imperfectly of course, but didn't collapse into chaos.
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
I am glad empires are in decline.
StefanoHopkins · 51-55, M
@JoyfulSilence: Yes, it would be nice to have no empires. The essential problem, above most others, to me, is the struggle between the individual and society, which demands subordination for the "good of all".
It's why so many feel empty, it's because their essential selves have been suppressed.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@JoyfulSilence: im surprised ppl still fall for it
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
But we cannot let people do whatever the heck they want. We need some rules. And there are bad people. Even with a global government of law and order there will still be criminals and angry people, and people with violent tendencies due to mental illness. But hopefully someday we will have no more wars. We need to shift toward police handling things not soldiers.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@JoyfulSilence: police here are rubbish! People need to learn to think for themselves, most are too caught up in meeting societies expectations, this is very very weak and just goes to show they lack their own identity.
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
I still want police to fight crime. But we should have better mental health and substance abuse treatment so that many problems are treated medically not by law enforcement.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@JoyfulSilence: Yes yes yes! people need to be educated not punished!
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
And treated. But there will still be mean or psychotic people. So we need to keep them away from horrible weapons. Only the police should have guns.
