I suppose i didn't realize we needed to study Genders. There are only 2. Men which are easily understood and Women which we are better off not trying to understand. Those dear women, the most lovely, beautiful beings.

So.

Edgy.

🙄

@Reverend Tell that to the Navajo 🤷‍♂️
Reverend · M
@IstillmissEP so your saying there is confusion on 166 genders and still counting?
daisymay · 51-55, T
@Reverend No, I'm saying you're a bigot. Was I too subtle? Bless your heart.
Reverend · M
@daisymay i wasn't replying to you. I can see your confused already! I was replying to someone else.

@Reverend Perhaps you should learn to use the tools to make your responses less ambiguous, then? I believe in you!
Reverend · M
@IstillmissEP I know, i understand completely.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Reverend There is no confusion. It has been decades since anthropologists realized that sex and gender are different things - and that human societies don’t have a universal standard for this aspect of cultural experience.

Some folks simply never caught up.
@daisymay or maybe you need some mental help. 2 genders homie and a lot of mental illnesses
Reverend · M
@QuixoticSoul or perhaps some people call a spade a spade and not an agricultural implement.
daisymay · 51-55, T
@Tiredandlonely What medical qualifications do you have, little man?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Reverend No, you don’t know more about anthropology than anthropologists 🙄

There are quite a few universal attributes that we see in human cultures throughout the world and history - for example some level of invest taboo. But a strict two-gender setup isn’t one of them. It’s a convention - basically, fashion.
Reverend · M
@QuixoticSoul every other gender is an "invention". Conventional male and female is all there is. Its sad to see the world going into this delusional gender realm head over heals.
@daisymay lol. None. What are yours?.
daisymay · 51-55, T
@Tiredandlonely
What are yours?
Did I put myself forward as an expert of what constitutes a mental illness? No. That was you. Since you have no qualifications, we can safely disregard anything you have to say on the subject.

Run along now before you embarrass yourself further.
@daisymay how have I embarrassed myself? Don't feel embarrassed at all.
Reverend · M
@Tiredandlonely im embarrassed that im so far behind in all the different genders.
daisymay · 51-55, T
@Tiredandlonely
how have I embarrassed myself?
Pretending to be an expert on mental illness.
Don't feel embarrassed at all.
Of course not. It's the rest of us that are embarrassed for you.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Reverend Male and female are sexes - yes, there are only two of those, and that *is* universal. But that refers to biology, even though it is often conflated with gender by laymen, well-meaning ignorants and otherwise.

Gender refers to how males and females live and function in society, and what relationship their sex, if any, has on that.

And that - well, every society seems to come up with their own conventions. The Navajo are not wrong, because hey have four. Their worldview is just as valid as yours.
@daisymay lol. Ok. Keep deluding yourself homie
DaySpider · 22-25, F
@QuixoticSoul Is it, though? Relativism can only go so far. Not everything is equally valid.

(Not saying it applies here but, 'their worldview is just as valid as yours' is a pretty dangerous starting point).

@Tiredandlonely
Keep deluding yourself homie
I ain't your homie, little man. How is that so difficult for you to grasp? Oh, right. You lack the genetic material that allows you to think critically.

We generally reserve this sort of thing for moral relativism. And that can come into play in gender issues - because let’s face it, some societies are fucking shitty about what happens to people of a certain gender.

But merely having a different set of genders is not in itself a moral concern.
