What good is the Supreme Court if they are partisan?

If their decisions are NOT based on THE LAW but based on which political party put them in the high court. What good are their decisions???
A good point, and that’s why the court has worked best when there were representatives from both sides of the aisle. Trying to load the court with only one mindset would not work well for the people.

@bijouxbroussard @EnjoyingLife Should there be a vacancy on the Court prior to the next election, we should invoke the McConnell Rule and not make an appointment until after the election. Republicans will not do this, of course, but it would be a direct parallel to what happened in 2016. They are all about cheating to get their way.

@LvChris I can’t say I’m surprised. The GOP is openly corrupt now and complains about “unfairness” only when they get caught.

I'd been asking myself that for a long time.
But, since Trump has put two originalists, on the court,
we're in pretty good shape.

@Budwick Thank you for your opinion, I couldn't disagree with you more.

I bet you could if you tried!

@EnjoyingLife, trust me, if it was the other way around, you would be getting a different answer from the extreme right.

I have always thought this! Regardless of what party dominates, it makes for a flawed system when it comes to justice.

Translation: "The Supreme Court is only valid when their decisions agree with me."

The Supreme Court doesn't decide based on the "LAW", they decide the Constitutionality of whatever law or behavior is in question based on their interpretations of that law and past decisions that are relevant in some way, all within the confines of the Constitution.

What good is the house?
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@gregloa How do you figure I'm a democrat? I haven't been a registered democrat since the late 1970s.

On the other hand, you clearly are a Trump sycophant who not only supports but encourages criminality on his behalf.
gregloa · 61-69, M
@windinhishair oh okay you’re a democrat hater 😂🤣😅😆

@gregloa Seen through your early dementia, perhaps.
The legal issues which the court are supposed to look at often tend to transcend short term politics. Issues like states rights, separation of powers and even executive privilege, for example, come to mind.
