@windinhishair In The Peoples Republic of California they have regulated and taxed gasoline allegedly to encourage people to stop using fossil fuels and use electric cars instead. Then, they turned off the electricity!

@Budwick Electricity is being turned off in some areas for limited periods of time to prevent fires. Fires that are getting worse and worse because we have no national policy to address global climate change.

By the way, it isn't the State that turns off the electricity. It is the power company. To reduce fires and their liability for same.

So, about that. The legislature didn't force the power outages. PG&E did this on their own to try and limit their liability due to lawsuits from previous fire seasons.
