Here's Why Trump Will Win In 2020

I predict that Trump is going to win his bid for a second term as President. The scenario I envision, is the following:

Democratic primaries/caucuses are over and done.

Bernie comes in 3rd

Bernie supporters accuse the DNC of playing favorites throw a tantrum fit, and either vote-in Bernie, or some 3rd party candidate

Trump gets about 35% of the popular vote, but like Clinton on his first run, ends up with the electoral votes needed to win the Presidency

During Trump's second term, two more Supreme Court vacancies will be filled with Evangelical-blessed judges, and the Handmaiden's Tale, edited to include only Aunt Hilda's perspective, will be mandatory reading for school children, from pre-school up.

Anyone looking forward to this scenario?

As a non resident, your scenario has little effect on me. But having no skin in the game directly does qualify me as a more independent observer.
The bigger picture is that America is genuinely no longer in charge of its own fate. And that is a fundamental shift from a couple of decades ago. The internal rot of a corrupted economy goes further back. But that was not critically important until a genuine competitor arose in the form of China. Only when China has started to push the Capitalist wall has it cracked and crumbled and that will continue.
But your scenario of a deeply religious, deeply introverted America is quite possible. Religion and corruption have long been close companions and I see no reason that shouldnt continue. However, Trump is not necessary to this. Almost every Senator and Congressman has been bought by the lobby system. And that is where the real power lies. Presidential paralysis is quite real. And the house (to paraphrase Lincoln) is well and truly divided against itself.

Yes, Trump's simplistic view of the world, is one devoid of context. The USA controlled the world, post WWII, because the third world (China, India) was emerging from colonialism (or about it), and Europe was licking its wounds, and recovering from WWII.

The 1950s, were great, not just because we were great, but because we had no competition, and we owned the world's markets. Our middle class, was loaded with blue collar workers.

Fast forward, and China, India and other third world countries, are now economic powers, with markets of their own, ability to control their destinies, and mostly educated people.

That is the context the Trumpists ignore, and think that through isolationism, nationalism, trade wars and bullying, we can remove all competition.

This is not going to work, but it's going to take an awakening at the national level, and making sure Trump does not win in 2020, for us to get on the right track. We can't pretend that the world is not progressing, and substitute international cooperation for propaganda, and expect our economy to improve.

@Northwest While I agree with most of your case, I frankly dont see America getting back "on the right track" . I see an economic fading from power at best and a rapid disintegration at worst. But America will emerge from the whole thing another France or Britain in terms of world influence.

@whowasthatmaskedman The "right track", is NOT world domination, it's finding a balance, where zero sum is not the name of the game.

@Northwest It would be nice to get back to a zero sum game.. American money has been charging commissions just for moving money from one pile to another without any actual earnings or growth in the real economy, effectively making the pie smaller each time. Nothing gets made means no earnings.
