Here's Why Trump Will Win In 2020

I predict that Trump is going to win his bid for a second term as President. The scenario I envision, is the following:

Democratic primaries/caucuses are over and done.

Bernie comes in 3rd

Bernie supporters accuse the DNC of playing favorites throw a tantrum fit, and either vote-in Bernie, or some 3rd party candidate

Trump gets about 35% of the popular vote, but like Clinton on his first run, ends up with the electoral votes needed to win the Presidency

During Trump's second term, two more Supreme Court vacancies will be filled with Evangelical-blessed judges, and the Handmaiden's Tale, edited to include only Aunt Hilda's perspective, will be mandatory reading for school children, from pre-school up.

Anyone looking forward to this scenario?

I think Democrats will unite after the primaries, because the alternative to a Democratic victory is the end of democracy. Even Republicans are starting to see this now. Trump will still do well in the red states that have become part of the cult, but not in the rust belt states. The Democratic contender will win a sizeable majority of the votes, and enough electoral votes to win the Presidency. It will take at least four years to start to repair the damage done. Democrats will continue to hold the House and will pick up the Senate in 2020 or 2022. Once that is accomplished, laws will be passed to prevent another Trump from shredding democracy in his own self interest by clarifying the emoluments clause, ensuring that criminal conduct on the President's part can be prosecuted while he/she is in office, clarifying that it is illegal to extort a foreign nation for the President's self-interest at the expense of the nation, putting a limit on the time that a temporary position can be held before an appointee is made, or subjecting the temporary position to Senate approval, and preventing nepotism in the Oval Office for the President's children or relatives, whether they are paid or not. This will be a start in righting the wrongs that have been inflicted on the nation.

@windinhishair for well over 200 years we elected presidents that had enough character (even the rotten ones) not to have to go to such measures. One man, only, has ripped the constitution and norms to shreds. And it hasn't been a good thing like the cult wants to believe.

@Carla Even the Founders didn't anticipate that someone so morally bankrupt and devoid of a soul could be elected President. When this national nightmare is over, Congress will have to pass new legislation to strengthen our democracy and prevent another Trump from ever being able to shred democracy.

The cult was active this morning. House Republicans stormed the Committee Meeting chambers where Pentagon official Laura Cooper was preparing to testify in private before one of the committees investigating the president. They successfully prevented her testimony on behalf of their Dear Leader, and had to be removed by Capitol Police.

But it is too late for them to prevent the truth from coming out now.

@windinhishair Oh they did. The electoral college is supposed to step in when someone eminently unsuitable gets the nod. The system doesn't always work 🤷‍♂️

@windinhishair oh my!
Yes, the truth is out there. But none of those bozos care much for truth. They care only about their reelections.
I guess I dont understand how they could halt testimony. I need to find the story about that.
I feel certain that trump was proud as a peacock. Perfect...

@QuixoticSoul Many of the activities of the president weren't anticipated, so there are going to have to be legislative fixes once the nightmare is over.

@Carla In 2016, two Hillary delegates, from Washington State, who were Bernie supporters, did not cast their electoral votes for Hillary. This was more symbolic, as it would not have made a difference, but nevertheless...

@Northwest protest non votes, then.
Maybe the same will happen should trump win the popular vote....
No, no, no...
I refuse to believe that he has that chance.
Northwest · M
@Carla I did not want to believe he had a chance last time.

@Northwest by Sept I knew. I kept telling folks he was going to win. I wanted to be wrong.
I have a different feeling this time around.

@Carla I believe the only way Trump can win, is if the Bernie folks do not accept reality. This is why I started this thread.

@Carla I had the same experience. I was watching the probability of a Trump win plummet, and then rise after Comey's announcement a few days out. I had a sinking feeling in my stomach that we could elect a wannabe-dictator. And we did. But the feeling is much different this time, though there will be many new revelations before next year's election. Who knows if Trump will even be in office and running by then?
