@RogueLoner Outside of executive orders which are in most cases avoided the president generally has to rely on Congress to push through legislation. This is one reason Bernie has focused on fostering a movement of progressives around him and keeps encouraging the average citizen to get involved in putting pressure on their representatives, because he realises it can be difficult for one man to accomplish any significant change on his own. The first step however is having leadership at the top that is completely uncorrupted by corporate and other special interests, which is one reason Obama was a disappointment to progressives.
