I think YOU could. The youth of today. Love it. Do you have political ideologies though?

Trump is increasingly showing signs of being mentally deranged. Or perhaps it’s just the onset of dementia. Either way it wouldn’t be a bad idea from the Republicans point of view to give careful thought to an alternative candidate for 2020.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Discotheque They cant really.. almost half the Republican vote is Trump loyal.. If they dump him then the Trump Rump will stay home and hardly a Republican will get elected. Remember the Presidential Vote is the same day as a lot of Senate, Congress and State votes and the Republicans need them all.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Let them sit it out then. Maybe it would be good shock therapy for them to realize that they're nuts!
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Tastyfrzz Maybe. But the way politics is played, whatever is wrong with the country. (And Goodness knows there is enough) automatically becomes the fault of the last administration. The real issues are decades old now and no one has even tackled them. Its about power and privilege.
EnigmaticGeek · 61-69, M
Mitt Romney is basically just the Republican party's Al Gore.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@EnigmaticGeek So we don’t know if he is succeeding? There have been consequences (good or bad) with his negotiations. Yes? No? Grade Trump on his progress thus far.
EnigmaticGeek · 61-69, M
@SimplyTracie I'd give him an A for attempting to resolve the bad situation we're in. None of his predecessors all the way back to Nixon tried to get a fair deal for the US with China.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@EnigmaticGeek Ahhhh you’re a good grader. I actually like that. Like Jesus, He loves that you strive to be better. Never mind if you fail.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
While I personally would think it would be a wonderful thing, for the Republicans it would be a disaster, among many. But whats one more? If it actually happened and a sitting president were challenged it would be yet another issue for Trump. If Romney actually got up, Trumps rump voters would stay away in droves and the Republican vote would be trashed. Ans as it Looks Trumps vote wont be enough to bring in the presidency. So all the democrats need to do it put up a candidate that can yell and interrupt as well as Trump in the debates and call shame on some of his behaviour and they have it. Trump has already done all the hard work to lose this one.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@whowasthatmaskedman Not according to a lot of loyalists. Trump is still solid gold. He has done a lot hard work but they look at it differently than you and I.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SimplyTracie I agree. I just dont see Trump loyalists in the numbers that will get him elected. Trumps ace is that his fans will not vote at all if he is dumped by the Party. Or run with him if he runs as an independent. That will split the Republican vote in two. The math gets more complex if that happens, because a lot of regular Republicans will stay home if its Trump , but turn out for someone else. We live in interesting times. (Funny how that was an old Chinese Curse.)
mentornc · 51-55, M
Probably not successfully but he would definitely be a welcome option for some.
mentornc · 51-55, M
@SimplyTracie In theory or in practice?
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@mentornc Both.

Trump said his favorite book is the Bible. I’m sure the Bible is up there for Romney too.

Trump always says, thoughts and prayers. I’m certain Romney prays frequently for his fellow man as well.
mentornc · 51-55, M
@SimplyTracie Romney is super religious. He's a Mormon and big with the church and everything.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
If Romney does run then I think the GOP will drop Trump like a hot potato. He's too toxic.
Romney would take every Republican vote west of the Mississippi.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Tastyfrzz Well then I hope he decides to challenge Trump.
gregloa · 61-69, M
Romney can go back to Mexico with the rest of his Mormon filthy rich compound. Where they can freely practice their absurd religion that is highly illegal in the us. Only a moron would vote for Romney the Mormon.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@gregloa I don’t know about the memories of Democrats. Why do you assume I’m a Democrat?

You do assume a lot don’t you? 😝
I truly want a certain Democrat to win.

Romney lost because of his religious beliefs? Or where his family came from? Are you serious? How shallow is that?
gregloa · 61-69, M
@SimplyTracie it’s pretty obvious
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@gregloa I wanna know what you believe to be true. And nothing is obvious for me.
SW-User
At this point I would support literally anyone running against him
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SW-User And thats what will finish him. People voting against him just because they hate what he has done to the nation. So get out and vote.
SW-User

I’d support Romney challenging Trump in a heartbeat.
Smart23 · 51-55, F
Anyone but Trump.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Smart23 I’d vote for Romney
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
If he defeats trump in the primaries he will get blown out of the water in the general election
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@vetguy1991 America wants tough bully like leaders like Trump?

Is Tulsi bland and weak? I think she’s kind and a very sweet caring person. You think she cannot win because of those qualities?
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
@SimplyTracie well I think that people want someone they can be excited to get behind
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@vetguy1991 That’s so sad. Americans get all excited and cheer when our President disrespects others and get all bored by kindness.
I don't know, but it sure would be nice.

Honestly, it would be nice to see old fashioned normal Republican voters again as compared to hardcore Trump supporters.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
I'd wish he would run.

Biden's my first choice, but at this point of those running and Romney, Romney would be my second choice.
Romney is a chump, Trump will blow hin out of the water.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@thedarkside Duly noted.
SW-User
Romney is the status quo. I don't think he'll work out. but there's always that chance
SW-User
@SimplyTracie His whole image revolves around the working class. Even though he is horrible, it's not easy erasing those images from people's minds.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@SW-User I’m not sure what images the middle class has of Trump. I would think that the middle class always had jobs and would do fine under any administration.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@SW-User He is trailer trash, yes, I agree. But he gives all the money to the rich. Maybe he's hoping that the trash cans will have good pickings when he gets out of office.
He had his chance twice ! - its over...
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@MarmeeMarch Okay. Jeez!
Then you go find a challenger that could beat Trump.
@SimplyTracie There aint going to be one - the Reps are just going to let this one ride. - Thats my guess.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@MarmeeMarch There is a Republican challenger but I don’t think he can enough delegates.
HeyRouben · 41-45, M

Silverwings · 61-69, F
Bring it on, he will loose again!!
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Silverwings Only one way to find out.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I think a lot depends on what comes out of the impeachment process. Republicans are likely to stick with Trump unless it becomes unsalvageable. But the RNC will dump him like yesterday's garbage if they can get away with it.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@ViciDraco Who will determine if and when he becomes unsalvageable? The RNC or someone like Mitch McConnell?
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@SimplyTracie probably the RNC. Mitch has a good deal if power to make it happen but I doubt he will unless he gets marching orders. The Republicans greatest strength is in how they stay in lock step
