Yes! No one should be able to enrich themselves through public office.
No book deals, no hotels, no speaking engagements etc.

The pay would be no more than public safety personnel or teachers .

@jackjjackson I would suggest working toward very genuine elections.
Individuals from a variety of backgrounds
who are willing to act on behalf of their district of state. There would be no re-elections. No empire building etc.

It shouldn’t be treated as employment .

Oh you mean like the framers intended? Citizen lawmakers serving one term. In Utah there is one part time legislative that serves part time and everything gets done. Imagine that. @SW-User
