I don't think it was within the remit of the Supreme Court to intervene in an essentially political matter. The length of prorogation has been exaggerated out of all proportion - parliament would not have been sitting during the conference season. This whole affair has been a cynical move by Parliament to avoid carrying out the wishes of a majority mandate because our elected representatives think they know better than us, the public.

@ArtieKat And a cynical move by the Supreme Court to bolster its position. That such a self-evidently controversial and novel constitutional judgment should have been unanimous is deeply suspicious. I think the Court will come to regret its decision - perhaps at the hands of a future Labour government!

@MartinII I wasn't going to mention how suspicious the unanimous decision was - but I do agree.....

@ArtieKat there IS no majority mandate. Do you understand anything at all about the original referendum?
Silly question I know, you've demonstrated you don't already.

Don't patronise me. You evidently would like to deny the result of the Referendum - no "original" about it!

@ArtieKat Boaty McBoatface casts a long shadow ...

@MartinII I really can't see the problem with a Labour government , I mean they can't be any worse than what we have had for the last few years under MAy and now Boris!!!!
ArtieKat · M
@milkymum1 Under Tony Blair - or even Gordon Brown - I wouldn't totally disagree. All the Labour politicians with any capability disappeared a long time ago.

@ArtieKat I know you're from Liverpool Ant and isn't that where Luciana 'I change my party more often than I change my underwear' Berger is an MP? She was Labour but quit the party (rightly) over anti-Semitism , joined Change , realised that as a political organisation an ostrich had more chance of getting off the ground , switched to the anti-democratic Liberal Democrats and has now announced she won't stand in Wavertree next time round but instead contest a seat in London

@SW-User No surprises there, Kelly!

@ArtieKat She was a Blair babe wasn't she? Ushered in from the privaliged south to a constituency she had zero interest in
MartinII · 70-79, M
@milkymum1 Well, the problems with a prospective Labour government are a) a reactionary socialist economic policy and b) a foreign policy that puts the interests of other countries ahead of those of the UK. Still, I agree with you that it’s difficult to imagine anything worse than Mrs May!
