Given that so many MPs won't respect the will of the people, I am not entirely surprised it has come to this. Very sad state of affairs though

@SW-User No deal was not on the ballot. We where assured a deal would be easy!!
SW-User
@SW-User but surely the job therefore is to get a deal or no deal voted through Parliament. It is the sovereign power.

So delay the date and call an election....
SW-User
@Harriet03 that is such a myth. Everyone knew the EU was not going to give us a reasonable deal. No deal was always the most likely outcome. Trying to get a comprehensive all encompassing deal agreed in one go was never going to realistically happen. Once we leave properly we and our industry can sort out arrangements bit by bit. It will come good eventually

@SW-User So everyone who voted leave knew that the leave campaign were lying when they said we'd have a deal like Norway's and we could stay in the single market? You have proof of this?
SW-User
@thatscottishguy I am saying that many people knew no deal was a possibility and still voted to leave.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@SW-User Ah many people but not all. Do you think the ones who bought the lies and wanted a soft brexit would change their minds had they known the truth? Given that the result of the referendum was so close do you think it would be enough to change the result? Don't pretend this is about democracy, it's about getting what you want.
SW-User
@thatscottishguy actually I know of many remainers who would now vote to leave because they think democracy has been betrayed by MPs who have not accepted the result and think that is the real threat to our democratic system
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@SW-User i voted leave and knew no deal was an option, like so many others, eu wanted to teach us a lesson because we voted to leave, leave meant leave customs union and single market ,
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@SW-User Hey well if you're sure there's many of them then why be scared of a second referendum that would surely just strengthen your position?
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@Nyloncapes AH Nyloncapes the representative of 51% of the UK I'm sure😂.
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@SW-User All the more reason, no deal should of been on the ballot!! 🤷‍♀️
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@thatscottishguy we havent carried out result of first referendum,
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@Harriet03 if there was another vote yes that should be on it but not to remain in eu on another ballot paper,
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@Nyloncapes Well we don't know if a majority wanted to leave under these circumstances. As harriet said no deal wasn't on the ballot. Plus the leave campaign promised us there would be one. So why not have another and say do you want to remain or leave the EU with no deal? If you are so sure that this is the will of the people why are you scared of it?
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@Nyloncapes Yes let's just make no deal the only option on the ballot that'll clear it up. Can we make Yes the only option in the next Scottish referendum?😂
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@thatscottishguy remain should not be on paper only leave eu deal or no deal, cant keep having vote till remain get there way , say we had another vote and leave won again do you honestly think the remain would accept it again
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@thatscottishguy deal or no deal on paper that is what all remainers are trying to stop us leaving without a deal , i hope you get another referendum , and if you vote leave good luck to you, with the eu and paying them billions
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@Nyloncapes Well then you should sort out a deal first but that isn't happening😂. If you are going to do it you have to put remain on the table. If remain lost of course remainers wouldn't be happy. That's the nature of democracy you keep trying to convince people that what you want is right. The government would have proof though that a majority of people want a no deal brexit and there is little MPs for remain could do then.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@Nyloncapes We'll be very happy thank you. Enjoy being little England and walling everyone out😂.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@thatscottishguy the eu think we wont leave and keep hearing all the remainers what there going and doing to stop brexit , and keep us in eu ,i agree a deal is best for both of us, and if we had had proper negoiators who knew how to negotiate we might have had a deal that suited everyone instead we had idiots who had not got a clue how to negotiate
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@thatscottishguy will you have to have the euro as your currency ,
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@Nyloncapes 😂I love that brexiteers think we were in some position of power in these negotiations. Why are so many in England still desperately trying to cling on to the idea that they're still powerful. No we would not have to take the Euro as you're only forced into it if you accept certain other things that I can't remember off the top of my head and I want to go do something😂.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@thatscottishguy we had no power because of our negotiators , who promised £39 billion, and when no deal was taken of table, so could the rest ofuk if wanted say you cant kerp the pound as your currency if you vote leave i am only asking out of curiosty as i have no idea
Sharon · F
@thatscottishguy What's wrong with adopting the Euro anyway? It makes travel to and trade with many other European counties much easier. You could join Schengen too, just like Norway. You just need to patch up Hadrian's wall.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@Nyloncapes The negotiators who tried to bow to the demands of brexiteers instead of actually trying to keep a relationship with the EU?

@Sharon I'd just prefer to keep our own currency. Having a shared one with other countries can be a bit problematic.
