I have a legitimate question this evening. Why doesn’t public enemy #1 want to lower interest rates?

@krf336 Yes, I know that. My question is why hasn’t Jerome Powell lowered the interest rate as Trump recommended?

@SimplyTracie I didnt know that he did. But trump is always calling people names so I dont really listen to that anymore.

@SimplyTracie well, I would prefer he acted a bit more presidential... but Its better than the usual political hack that acts like nothing is ever wrong and you never quite know where he stands. So I take the good with the bad.

@krf336 If we look closely at their actions, we can clearly see where they stand. True, some of our leaders are all talk and no action. Those leaders stand for nothing and shouldn’t be our choice. Right?

@SimplyTracie sometimes, but the last few have not stood for anything I agree with. I dont like trump, but at least I see eye to eye with him on many issues

Ahhh, tax cuts. How much tax cuts did you receive? I heard that the average middle income earner has gotten at least $5,000 more annually. How much has it impacted your bank account?

@SimplyTracie I think it's to early to say how much the tax cut has affected me, all I know is that 4 years ago I ended up owing $2000 and I was a full time student so I was pretty pissed off. Since then I have always gotten a refund.
I do own some stocks and while I dont fully trust the market I am happy with my gains.

As for the immigration policy, it hasn't directly affected me other than as a veteran who fought for the safety of the country it is nice to see the law being enforced. There are a lot of bad things that could have gotten in. Some still are. I believe the immigration policy has positive effects on the economy thg as well.

@krf336 But it’s not just your tax returns. How much more are you getting in your paycheck? Did you see a $190 bump in you paycheck? That is what the Trump finance experts have touted.

I have an uncle who married the sweetest person and she was from Mexico. And my uncle is a retired Lt Colonel. So when Trump said Mexicans are Rapist and drug dealers I took offense. Oh that’s right, he assumed some are good people.

@SimplyTracie I am retired so i get a fixed amount regardless, I didnt really pay attention to that.
I understand the offense. Like I said, sometimes i wish he thought before speaking. And i certainly dont agree with that sentiment, or that it's what he intended.. but he said it and its ot there.

@SimplyTracie Too low a rate MIGHT trigger inflation. The period of the Ford/Carter administrations was a period of hyper inflation and it was terribly destructive of the economy.

@redredred. My guess is that Chairmen Powell knows better than Trump.

@SimplyTracie I dont know, the Fed has been a relatively poor manager of the economy, generally over-reacting, using a sledgehammer when a flyswatter would do.
