It's hit or miss, like all food in general. The thing about veganism is that it's not a specific diet, but more of a lifestyle. It's based on not eating certain foods, but everything else is fair game.

Oreos and french fries are vegan, and they're bomb. I think vegan chocolate chip cookies are tastier than traditional ones. The thing where most people run into problems with is vegan alternatives, such as Daiya cheese or veggie burgers. They expect those to taste exactly like the food they're substituting and get extremely disappointed when it doesn't.

Admittedly, a lot of vegan alternatives taste like you're eating a science experiment, but they're not the only options out there. Those things are mainly focused on serving as a bridge for people that miss the foods they're giving up by being vegan. Think of it as how food brands put out low-fat or low-sugar alternatives out there for the people giving up fat and sugar.

I was a vegan for 4 years and had a blast learning new recipes and trying new things. I had a lot of tasty, reliable meals I could make for myself and feel satisfied. It really depends on commitment more than taste alone

Good for you. I personally could never go vegan, because I love meat too much.@TinyViolins

@Djac17 The decision to go vegan isn't always about what foods taste good vs. which ones doesn't. More often than not it's a conscious realization that what you're contributing to by eating certain foods is morally unappealing to you
