I can’t even find any indication of anything Epstein said about the first ‘suicide attempt.’ He was found on the floor ‘semi-conscious’ with marks on his neck.

No mention of the strangling method on the first one (that I can find). No information about a torn sheet or rope.

Was his plan to strangle himself to death with his hands?

Given the apparent focus of Mr. Epstein’s life, I’d be more inclined to consider self-inflicted auto-erotic asphyxiation for the first episode.
